So PlanetMinecraft is crashing very often...

Yes, it is quite natural for the people regularly surfing this site for some community posts.

Servers or websites crash, no excuses...

but how does this happen?

So, many people are requesting for the process like going to that link, refreshing the page, downloading projects or skins etc.

The server is under heavy load or process most of the time. And sometimes cannot handle the heaps of loads of processes that it results to crashing the site. Then restarts back again as a refresh. Then the loop of crashing goes again and again.

I'm not saying that the server is too weak to handle the load. It's just not sufficient to handle the load for a very long duration of time before it crashes.

So what I am suggesting to the developers of this site is to open up a PayPal for donations for he site itself. So the developers can buy more server parts for mainframe computers to handle the site's load for a longer time.

The donations can help for the site itself, or for some calamity victims, or some foundations. Maybe for some giveaways to members.

But the people that possesses the donations shall not abuse the money that the people that offered.

This is just a request, to the developers in this site, you do not need to implement this idea right away...

Think about it clearly first then do what ever you wanted.

If there's already one before I posted this blog...

Please slap me in the face...

If these are not crashes...

Slap me in the face...

Just avoiding that much criticisms.

It's just my first blog... Please don't be so hard on it.

There might be some typographical errors.

Has not one thing to do with the users. The site has downtimes at specific times due to some internal kernel operations that we don't have much control over. It doesn't even "crash", it just can't accept new connections while the operation is running as the connections are used internally.

Are the operations scheduled at regular intervals?

And can the schedule be found somewhere on PMC?

No. It's a kernel process, it is not important to the users and it's something we're working on resolving. Next week we will be doing a lot of stuff to hopefully resolve the problem.

While you guys are working on it, will the users be affected?
