1. Find a nice biome to establish a home in. The area in the biome you build your home in should not be directly above or too close to any openings underground. I highly recommend that you're in a place with a lot of trees.
2. Craft stone tools then chop down nearby trees, flatten the land to your liking, and remove flowers and grass (non-block), to make room for building your house. Do not spend most of your time doing this on Day 1.
3. If you haven't found any sand yet, go out a little bit away from your cleared area to find some. What's a house without windows? But before you do this, craft a furnace and smelt logs for charcoal if you did not find any coal. It will get really dark at night without torches.
4. Build a house. Make sure that it's lit inside and have a door, trap door, ladder entrance, etc. If you don't feel comfy and protected from monsters inside your house, improve it!
5. At this point, until Night 1, you could turn a pond, river, or lake into a crop farm with a hoe and shovel, build animal farms, tree farms, protected water pool for fishing later, landmarks, bridges, build a sugarcane farm, and more.
6. Once night time have arrived, you don't have to sit in your house all night till it's day time. You should build a underground room. You could make it a organized storage room, mine for ores from it, make it a fast way to travel from Point A to B, and more.
7. Day 2. If you made it this far, congratulations! You might have noticed by now that you're a bit hungry. Don't focus on fighting monsters, finding diamonds, and going to the nether without building reliable food farms such as beef from cows, pork from chicken, bread from wheat, and more first. Experienced players can do both at the same time.
8. For your first crop farm, I recommend wheat, and for your first animal farm, I recommend cows. Animal farms will help a lot with obtaining experience for enchantments later on. From here, it's up to you to decide how you want to progress.
