Chapter 1: Welcome to My Life Disaster

You think your life is difficult? Try living with a hunting goddess of the moon for a mother, 30 young girls all within the age limits of 9-18, white wolves, eagles, and camping supplies for days. Yeah. You might be wondering, what in the world (that you know) are you talking about?

Let's restart with introductions. My name is Fleur. This may sound strange to you mortals, but I'll just say it outright: my mother is Artemis, Greek goddess of the moon. Now, you Greek mythology experts may be all like, "But Artemis is a sworn maiden! She couldn't have a daughter!" Well, my nerdy friend, she's not technically my mom. She found me in the woods next to an unconscious body of my biological mother who passed from doing adult-y things that children like you probably wouldn't understand. But I suppose I should stop stalling and get to the real story.

Kipp Infinity Middle School: one hour before we're all let out, my teacher, Mr. Johnson, gets a call from my mom Artemis, so I get to go home early. Many kids tried to hide their pained expressions and failed, and one kid even shouted out, "Tell your mom my number!" To which I replied, "She would delete it even if she agreed to put it in!"

In the parking lot my mom's chariot was easily distinguishable. It looked like a silver van to mortals, which sound suspicious, but to us hunters it looked like a miniature silver chariot pulled by also miniature golden reindeer. It's true eye-blind form was hidden from mortals because of the Mist, a magic concealer, you could say.

Our camp was close, in the nearest woods. Once we arrived, I went into my tent/room and changed from my school uniform to my hunter's outfit. We ate dinner, a fresh catch, and sacrificed the best parts to the gods because most of them aren't content enough with being all-powerful.

After, I went to my tent/room, changed into my pj's studded with bows and quivers, and looked around the room. It was filled with necessities: a few changes of clothes, camping supplies, and a knickknack. Mine was a little stuffed bunny I found when I was wandering through the woods. It was a little torn up, but our expert sewers mostly took care of it. Before I slept, I looked up at the stars to see the constellation of a friend I lost- Zoe Nightshade. Wonderful hunter, the only thing wrong was that all she spoke in was Shakespearean.

I fell upon my cot and slept like Zoe has.
  No peace. Just nightmares.
Why must the life of a demigod be so difficult?
