Introduction to the series:
Hey everybody! This is part one of a series of blogs documenting my Modded Minecraft Adventures! (Yes, it’s a cheesy title, no, I don’t care). The first half of it will be documenting the creation of the modpack, while the second half will document my playthrough of it.

Introduction to the blog:
This blog will be about the reasoning for this modpack, and some basic details about it.

Introduction to the modpack:
So this is a custom modpack that aims to include many aspects of modded Minecraft, without overloading the player with content.

Why not use Feed the Beast?
I’ve messed around with FTB before, but I found several issues with it:
It’s overwhelming. There’s so much content, especially with the Biomes O’ Plenty mod, that I find myself constantly trying to mess around with a new item I get, only to get distracted by another thing.
Vanilla progression feels too primitive. I find myself avoiding doing the basic vanilla progression, but in the end it ends up leaving me confused, annoyed, and nowhere near where I wanted to be.
It’s old. The most stable versions of FTB are on 1.12.2, and while there are the Unstable 1.20 and 1.21 versions, they still run into the other issues.
It doesn’t offer the modern modded experience. Many newer mods have popped up over the years, like Create, YUNG’s Structures, and more, which are (IMO) superior to the classic mods FTB has.
It’s not optimized. It takes a while to load, has almost no performance mods, and can really bog down a weaker system.

Why not use a different modpack, like All of Fabric?
While All of Fabric is an excellent modpack, and I highly recommend it to anybody who enjoys the amount of content in FTB, I personally find it just as overwhelming as FTB, if not more since I’m less experienced with it.

Thus…
Due to this, I decided to try my hand at making a modern modpack that is simultaneously feature-rich and approachable, while still preserving the core vanilla progression. If you want to take it slowly and mess around with all the features, you can do that! If you want to speedrun to the end, you can do that too! And there’s something in this modpack for everybody! It features technical, explorative, magic, and farming mods, plus more! More on this in the next blog. It’ll also include several performance mods that will allow it to run on older/weaker systems.

Technical Details:
Version: 1.20.1
While some mods support 1.21, I found most mods to support 1.20.1, which is still plenty new.
Modloader: Fabric
Fabric is more optimized, newer, and has a large suite of performance mods available, including Sodium.
Launcher: Modrinth App
Since most of these mods are downloaded from Modrinth (far superior to CurseForge), the Modrinth app is the best option for launching this modpack.

That’s all for this blog. In the next part, I’ll walkthrough the mods in this pack, and why I chose them.

If you have any questions about this modpack, or ideas for mods to add to it, let me know in the comments!
