Does anyone else think the ads on planetminecraft are becoming a bit ridiculous?
I mean, looking at some of the new ads that are "interactive" they just scream virus or adware, and what do you know? They are.
I tested the integrity myself by clicking through the ads and they come to website with supposed downloads for things such as video players, games, and other junk.
Anyone else agree the ads are potentially harming and should either be removed or changed? I do agree they are necessary for the website to earn revenue from the ads, but I'm sure we can find some less shady, malware spreading ads?
Another plan that has come to attention in the comments below would be adding a premium subscription option to PMC. The cautions to take with this would be to make sure that premium accounts are NOT too OP and they do not receive too many benefits making the premium users 'better' than normal users. So far PMC has been a free environment, and I don't like the idea of PMC being a paid service. It would flail in that way. But adding an optional donation system to earn a small benefit would definitely work. There are 800k+ users on PMC if only 1% bought a low subscription, PMC would definitely make a handsome profit.
For all of you whom are mentioning Ad-Block:
I know what ad-block is. I know it works here. But that is besides the point! The website still needs to make revenue to keep alive. That is what the ads are for. Removing them with a client-sided mod is NOT solving the problem in it's entirety.
Thanks for all the hits guys, this is my first blog, and I made pop-reel and #1 on hot blogs. Love to all of you. But seriously, this is a problem, and PMC has many other option available to them to make money. Ads that spread malware, adware, viruses and other junk are not the answer even if they DO make money.

Just sort of a told-ya-so post here....
Not trying to be a douche, but honestly, I warned the community with this post.
