' It's been a while since I posted a story :o

Wet flakes of snow caught on my lashes as I stared up at the neon borealis that swirled through the sky. I sat up and brushed off the layer of snow that had settled on my shoulders. Dark and ancient first trees towered above me. Where was I?

“Trath!” a distant voice called out my name. I stood up shakily.
  “Who are you? Show yourself,”
“Trath, I have your key,” the voice said to me. I whirled around, searching through the thick bunches of trees for the mysterious speaker. The key. I needed that key.
“Where are you?!” The woods lit up behind me, casting my dark wavy shadow on the pale crystals of snow that covered the forest floor. I turned around and squinted, holding one hand in front of my face. A bright white silhouette of a wolf approached me. Around it’s next a heavy wrought-iron key hung on a slender chain.
“I have your key,” the wolf repeated. It stopped moving towards me and sat on its haunches a few feet away from where I stood. “Come and take what is yours, Trath,” it said. I staggered forward to the creature, its glow bouncing back from the white snow, nearly blinding me. I grasped the large key, the freezing iron burning my bare hand. I took a step back and trembled as I watched frost begin to crawl up my arm.
“What’s happening to me?” I asked the wolf.
“Go back to your realm now, child,” it told me, “I’ve helped you all I can. The rest is up to you,” It turned to leave.
“Wait!” I tried to step towards it and reached out as my body began to succumb to the frost. Ice began to cover my body entirely, spreading from the cold key in my hand. Oddly as the ice encased every inch of me, a wave of warmth surged over me.

I shuddered and sat up, moving heavy wool blankets off of my chest. I groaned and placed my head in between my legs.

“Look who’s awake!” Jana put her journal down and knelt by my side. “You’re lucky we managed to find your staff poking out of the snow after that avalanche,” I shivered and looked down at the key grasped in my hand.
“The White Wolf gave me the key,” I said, rubbing my thawing fingers against the cold metal of the key. “We’ve got everything we need to stop the Falling now,”
