Today, i came to conclusion that whilst i had seen everything vanilla had to offer, i wanted something new, with servers offering up very little new content. I had initially played tekkit etc. for a short while, mostly only using TNT etc. because of the lack of a real coherent guide that would integrate the vanilla features of the game with the mods offered by the yogbox etc. Whilst using the wiki can be useful, it became annoying when you had to do this for every new item added. Having spoken to a few people who feel the same way, ive decided to write a blog detailing how the features of the yogbox can be used by vanilla players to improve there gameplay-experience whilst not letting them be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of new content the yogbox brings.

The Blog will formatted into in-game week segments, about how to use the yogbox to improve your home, detailing the problems i came across and how i solved them, aswell as useful tips and tricks about how to get the most out of the environment.

Week 1:

First thing first, when you craft a wooden sword, press R to turn it into a Soul Sword, this sword is unbreakble and can be enchanted by pressing the R key and levelling it to give better bonuses. Much the same as you would enchant a sword in vanilla. You have the option to choose a dagger, shortsword or greatsword. I opted for the shortshord as it has a good attack speed whilst also being significantly better than a diamond sword overtime because of the enchantments it can have.

Having spawned in the middle of a dense forest i immediately resorted to chopping down the surrounding area to clear a space for my home, the auto-cutter mod keeping it quick and easy. I opted for an underground structure with a trapdoor entrance. The number of monsters i encoutered during my first night was a challenge, with Dr. Zharks Mo' creatures mod increasing the variety of mobs you face. Werewolves are especially problematic, their combination of speed and strength is terrifying for an unprepared adventurer. Only when i realised that Werewolves are to tall to fit through doors was i able to kill it, my first kill provided me with some iron weapons whilst the 2nd werewolf dropped a golden apple, an amazing drop for so early on.

The next day i discover my first pyramid, hoping to find what lies within. Firstly though i go to the top of the pyramid and mine the first few blocks to reveal a diamond block at the top of the pyramid. The pyramid itself has a puzzle to solve to open the door if you want to play fairly, but also contains a large amount of redstone for those of you who want to use it.

In the next installment i will explore the large cobblestone battle towers, whilst looking more closely at the trading and other features offered by the millenaire mod.

Week 2:

Following on from last week i eplored the battle tower which is at the bottom of the hill upon which my underground base is located. I assaulted it during the day to avoid the obvious problems of doing it at night, as the mobs within cannot survive for long if they follow me outside. Whilst for the sake of challenge and enjoyment i made my way up inside the tower, But for the sake of efficiency and speed, you can build a tower up the  middle of the South wall, mining every 8 blocks or so allowing you to access the chests on each floor. When you reach the top level with the stone golem, as long as you do not stand on the roof the gollum will not attack you, meaning you can raid the chest before throwing yourself to your death allowing you to teleport straight back to your base when you die, thanks to a great mod allowing you to keep items on death.
The large number of artifacts you'll find are all stackable and will be needed for thaumcraft, which i will cover in the next installment.

Also, it turns out that whilst the soul sword is incredibly effective when its upgraded, mine is now level 12, a gold sword can now be put to good use as its extremely effective against werewolves, which can prove troublesome if you are not properly equipped.

As i have become more involved with the mod pack i decided to study the wiki and learn about which groups of item areassociated with which mods. My next installment will include more about Thaumcraft and the large amount of loot i recovered from the 2 battle towers that i stormed.
