Hello guys, it's me, Thomacreeper!

Mine-Imator
Animating Minecraft content has been changed a lot in the past years: you don't need knowledge about difficult programs anymore, because Mine-Imator is here!
WRONG: Mine-Imator is not the solution for high quality and nice minecraft animations/renders! ( www.stuffbydavid.com/mineimator )
David, the maker of Mine-Imator said that his program is for fun, and not for youtube videos/renders.
But he didn't realize he made a really big change: players wouldn't need to waste time on learning difficult programs like Blender or Autodesk Maya, they could just use the awesome Mine-Imator!
WRONG: Mine-Imator was never made for youtube videos or screenshots, but for fun! The characters looked like the in-game characters: very basic with a hat. When you type in 'Minecraft 3D skin render' you see lots of images of Mine-Imator, and barely any with professional program. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Mine-Imator involved the whole animating community inside Minecraft.

Blender
Blender is a free and professional program, but it's still worse than Autodesk Maya or Cinema 4D.
It's easier to use than other modelling and animating programs, but less advanced. You can find countless rigs and models on the internet, which makes it really attractive.
If you don't know/want to crack another program/use a trial, I recommend blender.

Cinema 4D
Cinema 4D is was a difficult program to animate with.
Nowadays populair animators like Weedlion ( www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ6-z9ZMQaFamC2JIOFeJfA ) make rigs for Minecraft characters inside Cinema 4D, which makes it the most used animating program apart from Mine-Imator. All players need to do is to download a character/mob, use the rig or download the model, and start animating.

Autodesk Maya
I personally use Autodesk Maya.
Autodesk Maya is one of the most advanced animating programs for anything: minecraft, animated movies, ...
But why is it so rare in the Minecraft community?
There are barely any models/rigs avaiable, and most of the time you will need to model, rig, texture and animate everything by yourself. Because Autodesk Maya is one of the most advanced and difficult animating programs to learn, it's rarely used for Minecraft-related content. The most popular Minecraft animator use Autodesk Maya: Slamacow! ( www.youtube.com/user/SlamacowCreations )
Because Autodesk Maya is so advanced, it gives endless opportunities for animators to animate and model.

What will happen in the future?
More and more players will use the rigs and downloaded models, but there will also be new, professional animators who will make more rigs and models for everyone. This means everyone will be able to animate and learn it within 10 minutes: if you want to go basic you can use Mine-Imator, if you want to go professional you can use Cinema 4D, or if you really want to create your own model and go ultra-advanced, you can use Autodesk Maya.
The maker(s?) of Mine-Imator are still busy upgrading their program: more advanced bending, lightning, and lots of other stuff.
Conclusion: at a day almost everyone will be able to animate and make their own renders.

Please not that this blog is based on my opinion, some of you may find Cinema 4D easier than Blender, etc.
Enjoyed reading this blog? Don't forget to leave the creeper a
diamond!

~Peace

HEY! BLEDING BLENDER IS BETTER THAN MAYA & C4D

go look their movies. if u will see big buck bunny . you will get chocked!!

and without ton . Blender will be impossible

ALSO .. like what u said blender is free. Maya & C4D are costing more than 3500$ a year/ 300$ a month!!!

which its illegal to crack it.

SO Blender wins!!

I would say this is a little bias as it is really leaning towards Autodesk Maya since you yourself use that program.

With Blender, yes it is a free and open source program but some things are easier to do with it especially advanced things and things that are of a larger scale rendering (some computers can't handle the rendering in Maya when it gets to lard of a scale).

With Autodesk Maya you forgot to mention that the cost is a major set back to the program since it can range in the five figures with pricing. Or unless you want to risk pirating the program if you don't have that kind of money to acquire a legitimate version of Autodesk Maya.

Also you forgot to mention Houdini FX which in my opinion is way better than Maya (this is my own opinion since I have both) but is just as expensive as it but when I switch between Autodesk Maya with plugins and Houdini FX I see a bit of a difference that leans into Houdini being my favored program.

I'm using the trial, many people are.
Also, this is based on my opinion, so people like you might disagree with this.
I never heard of Houdini FX, so I can't really talk about it.

you can easily reskin most rigs such as blue cubes rig you open up a new slide in the blender window and select uv image editor and then press on the small photo icon with the 2 arrows pointing up and down and select "char" which it is most likely to be called and then image and then replace image then go to the location with your skin and select it and you will see the skin change. though doing this with rigs that has eye's ect. would be much harder and long process!

hope this helped

I believe there are rigs that allow you to reskin it easily by just loading in the file. (:

I use blender, I have to say that it is hard to learn - interface is totally different from any other program, but if you are interested in graphics (not just minecraft stuff) blender is good enough to make professional stuff. Just try it - it's free, small and supports lots of platforms.

Personally, I use Mine-Imator if I'm going to animate. It's pretty easy to navigate and get around, the only hard thing is making the scenery look descent and professional, I have little trouble with the animating it just takes time. I also tried out blender, yet I can't figure out how to do anything even with the help of trailers, it's just far too complicated for my brain :P

You know something. You can get really popular through creating MC Rigs for Autodesk Maya since it is a rare community. I mean this blog makes sense and if what you say is true then you should do it

Maybe I should, yes.
I know more about modelling than rigging, so I can only make basic rigs (easy to animate).

Yeah well its np. Once you include at least facial expressions when you get better at rigging, you could make maybe a full animation rig

I will never make facial expressions since 90% of all my models have helmets, hats, etc.

I used Blender once, but not for Minecraft.
I use Mine-imator for simple things, such as a thumbnail.

3D modeling and stuff is hard. I couldn't even move the camera view in Blender when trying to make an external render of a miku model. Isn't maya like for professionals or something? or is that 3Dmax? or something.
heck i can't even rig a thing in pmx editor, a very simple model editing thing for mmd.
i've actually never heard of mineimator.

Autodesk Maya isn't even that complicated. The basics are easy to learn. The only part this is difficult is the part you will never need for minecraft animations, everything is made of blocks! You don't have to worry about hair, curved models, complex textures, etc.

Out of Autodesk Maya, Cinema 4D and Mine-Imator Autodesk Maya is the most difficult one since there aren't many downloadable rigs/models.

Blender has lots of premade models and rigs, Maya doesn't. But I already said in the blog that it's based on my opinion.

I use Mine-Imator for characters to use in thumbnails,it looks pretty good to be honest, and as someone who's done animation in the past it's simpler then other programs. But not the best.
