NOTE: I'm sure most of you have heard, but on the 1st of Febuary 2015, the creator of RWBY, Monty Oum, has died due to suffering a severe allergic reaction during a medical procedure. Me, and the Rooster Teeth community is devestated by the news. He died aged 33 years old.

Now, saddness and tears (probably from my eyes) aside, I'm unsure if Rooster Teeth will continue with RWBY or not. If they do, I'm not sure if it will be the same great show as it was again. If they don't continue with it, this might be one of the most saddest things in Youtube history. Only time will tell...

R.I.P. Monty Oum.
Thanks for all the awesomeness.

Hello everyone, AnimeFanFTW here, and as promised, today, I will be reviewing the second season of the Rooster Teeth web-series, RWBY.

Rooster Teeth are really punching above their weight lately. While RWBY Season 2 was airing, Rooster Teeth introduced yet another animated web series called “X-Ray and Vav”, a story about 2 of my favourite RT members, Ray Narvaez Jr and Gavin Free, being superheroes. The first episode was fantastic. I might review it when it finishes, but no promises. But anyway, yeah, RWBY. Hope you enjoy this review.

Introduction

Most people on earth should know the word “Season”. In nature, there is 4 seasons: Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. (In Australia, we call it: Super Summer, Kind of Summer, Not Summer and Colourful Summer). However, in media like TV Shows, the word “season” basically means a sequel. Well, another season of a show can either help it or hurt it. It can help by introducing new characters, new plot points, new scenes that people can enjoy, but it can also ruin it by including scenes that are not needed, or scenes that no sense, or just change parts of the story completely. Well, some time ago, I reviewed the first season of the “anime” made by Youtube sensation, RWBY. It was a brilliant (if, not polished) show to watch. But when word came around of a second season, I was legitimately worried. I was so worried that they might ruin it, because there were a lot of things to ruin in the show. And after all, there were some problems in season 1 that can turn into an even bigger problem. So is RWBY’s second season its downfall, or is Rooster Teeth continuing to impress me?

Well, I got to say…I’m impressed.

(THIS REVIEW MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.)

Story – 7.5/10
undefined

When I reviewed Season 1 of RWBY, I said that the story sets its world well, but still had plenty of problems. Well, in Season 2, many of these problems are fixed. The only way to explain the story here is say that Season 2 starts immediately where Season 1 left off; starting the second season in what is the most amazing food fight you will ever see in your entire life. The comedy in Season 2 is still here, and the world is still interesting, which is great. One of the problems I had with season 1 was the episode lengths. They had times of 4-12 minutes and it was hard to get into the story. Well, Rooster Teeth fixed this and have made the episode lengths longer. All 15 episodes of Season 2 are over 10 minutes long, which is brilliant. Another thing about the story is that we learnt more about some of the characters (which I will go over in a minute) and about the world. We learnt more about the Grimm (those evil animal things) and past events that have happened in the world. But there were still problems. There is so much I want to learn about the world, but instead, RWBY shows conversations of some of the characters talking about relationships. Why? But hey, not everything is perfect…

Characters – 8.5/10
undefined

I won’t explain the main characters (because I have already did in my Season 1 review) but as a whole, the characters in RWBY are still brilliant. In Season 1, they gave a lot of character development to Ruby, Blake, Weiss and Jaune, while the rest were barely given any. I hated this because I wanted to know more about characters like Yang and Ren and Nora, but were just not given a chance. Season 2 sort of fixes it. We learnt about so many characters that were previously not well known. The biggest improvement was Yang. I explained that Yang was my favourite character, and yet, she got next to no character development. In Season 2, we learnt more about her past and we also learnt that Yang and Ruby are actually half-sisters (which makes much more sense). Each episode brought new info to the table and hearing it was so interesting. There were also new characters. An example is a girl (who I think is named Neapolitan), which dresses in white, brown and pink (Get it? Her name is ice-cream…). But I think the best character that is introduced is a cute little dog named Zwei. Turns out Ruby owns a dog. And when you see it in a fight, you will be surprised. Now, the character interactions are still great, and the characters themselves are still amazing. So basically, the character department is still strong. Yey.

Animation – 8/10
undefined

The animation in RWBY Season 2 has certainly improved, but only a tiny bit. To basically repeat myself, the character designs look awesome, the textures look okay, whenever the characters were not moving much, they looked awkward and whenever a fight scene happened, my eyes were glued to the screen. The only improvement is that the backgrounds look better. So yeah…

Umm… there aren’t enough words here. So here’s a thing…

yey thing

Sound – 8.5/10
undefined

To be honest, although the sound is still its greatest strength, compared to season 1, it’s slightly worse. It is still good, don’t get me wrong. To start off, the voice-acting is still meh to good. I did notice that it was done slightly better, but it was still just above average. (Also, just so you guys know, still no Gavin Free voice-acting a character… sad face). The awesome music is still there as well. By far the best song in the soundtrack was the opening song. So amazing. Other than that, I thought that the second season’s songs were slightly less noticeable. This might be just me, I don’t know. But heck, music was still awesome, so why should I argue?

Enjoyment – 8/10
undefined

I’m so glad RWBY is still going strong. Many people believed that this would fail (heck, some people believe it has already failed) but I think that RWBY has defied the odds to get to this point. Because after watching the 2 seasons, I’m still craving more. The fight-scenes are still entertaining, Ruby is still amazing, Yang is still awesome, the classic Rooster Teeth comedy is still there. I hope that this show continues for years and years to come. For now, I will wait until maybe mid-2015 for Season 3. Can’t wait.

Final Verdict – 8/10 – Awesome

Until the next review…

Watch it. I can't really explain about World Trigger, it has a rich story, backstory and plot.
(World Trigger is my favorite!)
But assassination classroom is about a monster who blows up 70% of the moon and intends to do the same to earth. The monster can go up to speeds of mac 20. He asked the goverment to teach a class, but the goverment tried to kill him but it failed. So they let him teach class 3-E. E is the lowest grade class. E is the only ones who know about the monster, apart from goverment forces. The goverment made the monster agree to not harm the students. The goverment wants the students to assassinate the monster and their teacher, the monster teaches them how to be an assassin and how to assassinate him. His name is 'korosensei' which was given to him by the students because he's unkillable. Now the students have to assassinate their teacher.

K, that's about all. ^-^
(Also you won't forget any thing about World Trigger, they have 1-3 minute recaps each episode, darn it toei)
Also World Trigger is subbed, and Assassination classroom has two versions, subbed and dubbed.
