Hello Reader, The_Fez_Master here with my first blog,that'snot a tutorial. This article features the 2013 minecraft april fools day joke of minecraft 2.0, the snapshot of 13w41a, and the 1.6 update!
Lets start with the April fools day joke. So on April 1st Mojang released minecraft 2.0 featuring stained glass, fat animal, "horses", the pink wither, blocks of coal, and other funny features. You could overfeed pigs, sheep, and cows, to make them fat and then explode. The horses were just re-textured pigs and cows.
Then 1.6 came out with real horses and blocks of coal. The horses were and are completely legit. The coal block was just like the emerald block, diamond block, iron block, and gold block. Except you could use it as furnace fuel. It could smelt more things than the ingredients could together.
And then earlier today Mojang released snapshot 13w41a. It had all the other features except it had quite a few new blocks. It Was Stained Glass!!!!!! Minecrafters have been asking for this for ages. They looked just like they did during april fools day. I remember a tweet by Jeb on the side of mojang.com, shortly after the joke, he said he was being threatened with pictures of cats until they re-added stained glass. That obviously worked LOL.
Then I started thinking, was April fools day really completely a joke? Well some of it was, but I think some of it was a sneak preview for future updates. What do you think? Was it a joke, or was it a sneak preview? And if it is a preview then what will the future hold? (Maybe the Red Dragon! Because there was a Pink Wither, pink and red are similar colors, both the Wither and Ender Dragon are black, and so on.) You don't have to answer that, just think about it.
