Hi there, my name is Ziplo and welcome to my first blog/article and my second planet-minecraft post! :)

So, as I am the kind of guy who gets straight to the point, let us get straight into the point!

As you can tell by the title, I beleive the minecraft community is slowly becoming unstable, what I mean by this is the communitys friendliness and overall hospitality is slowly dropping; for example - on my favourite servers such as hypixel, uberminecraft etc. have mostly became overridden by 8 year old who constantly rage or just troll in general. As well as the worst kind of gamers out there, not just on minecraft..- hackers. I find myself that the game is full of them at least on the servers I play on I see people climbing up walls like spiders, attacking players without looking, flying, superjumping, oh the list goes on!

The worst thing about it is that when you confront them about this type of stuff they just reply "itz not my falt ur bad lol" or just deny it in general which can be really fustrating when they have friends to back them up when you just blatently watched them exploit the game.

So yeah, sorry this was so short but I beleive this is a pressing issue in the minecraft community, but I'd really like to know what you think in the comments! I'm sorry this was a little moan/rant for my first blog post too but these issues have to be confronted head on! xD

So once again, thanks for reading and have a nice rest of your day!

- Ziplo

Edit: Oh my god! My first blog is on the popular reel!! THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS! :D <3

I agree in a few cases. Hackers I hate. Kids though, that's a different matter. When they start being total butt whipes, that's just them being kids. They do get to be really annoying but don't let them bother you.

On my favorite server:

http://www.planetminecraft.com/server/etindra/

One of the co-owners is a child. He has his moments of rediculousness but he is really very well behaved and friendly. The owner's daughter plays with us too and she is also very friendly. There really aren't that many aged players on this server but everyone gets along just fine. I think it really just depends on the kids.

Dont be such a jerk to kids, they play the game to have fun. and they be themselves. Kids will be kids.

Now, hackers are ruining the community!

The game is legos on steriods. To expect Kids not to play it would be ridiculous. Kids will be kids, and since they ARE kids you really ought to treat them nicely.

There's going to be things to ruin everything.

As everything has grown, it has gotten really messed up, and Minecraft is not exempt. With still more and more people joining the community, there are going to be more and more younger children joining, and it's going to become more noticeable than ever before, and I have more bad news; it's only going to get more prominent as time goes on.

Now, you can do one of two things:

Let some bad things ruin the entire game for you.

OR.

Choose to continue playing in spite of those immature people. They are just kids after all. Have you tried playing on smaller servers at all? Younger children swarm to bigger servers, because that's all they know to go to.

I just dont like the kids that get on and try trash talking but then end up whinning when they started things in the first place. My thing is, is that its the Internet, if you cant handle it dont play simple as that. It gets really annoying when there is a big fuss over something that could have been prevented if someone just kept their mouth shut.

Well, i see how these things are ruining the community, Especially young players. (really bugs me) And also hackers. I mean, modded clients are fun when its singleplayer or one of those crazy DWE servers, but other than that, hackers are just ruining the fun :|

You say in the title how young players are (supposedly) ruining the community, yet never mention them in the blog. Personally, just because someone is young doesn't mean they should necesarrily be blamed for the things other may do. And also, older people act like jerk-wads as well -- just look at how some older server owners exploit their own players for cash.

On the topic of hackers, I hate them. I started playing minecraft two years ago, and I got very interested in PvP, and I frequently play lots of PvP-oriented games, from Hunger Games to CTF. But everyday, my experience is ruined by some jerk who has a modded client and doesn't give a crap about the fact that he/she is sucking the fun out of other's playing.

I see your point. Multiplayer has evolved into something different than what it once was.

Young players may be very good at Minecraft, and not all of them rage; in fact, most I've seen are just trying to have fun and make friends.

Hackers, on the other hand, have always been present when it comes to online games. Remember Counter Strike 1.6, anyone? There were so many hackers and hacks that finding a game without them was tedious. However, we still managed, and the community still managed.

The only way to prevent hackers is for Mojang to keep developing the game as they are and for you to join a server with adequete safety plugins. Most servers these days 100% repel the use of Nodus, whereas it is impossible to use Nodus to cheat.

To answer your question:

Mods such as Nodus or Yodus are used quite often in servers without the right protection. The young and the tech savvy are not ruining the community. The young just wish to play an easy to understand game that has something close to social interaction, and the tech savvy are only enjoying mods created by other tech savvy people. You're not wrong for believing that modding and raging are bad, I find myself upset at the fact that a server is filled with these types of people. And the solution is just switching to another server that has active admins and the right plug-ins to mute the young, and to stop the tech savvy before they lower their server's reputation and upset their users. MassiveCraft does a spectacular job at this as it has mods who create good relationships with as many players as they can while at the same time do their job swellingly. So all in all, let the young and the tech savvy do as they wish on their severs and just change servers so you and other like minded people can enjoy the peace and quiet.

Like the question, but I think it's mostly the hackers (all 'em!). With children, if they're an annoyance, you eventually get used to it. Hackers are something that you'll never TRUELY get used to, but the real problem are the disputatious & threatining ones *end of world*. Like the topic, nice to point out (btw, I started Minecraft in 1.5.2).

I also joined back in 1.2 and there was an awesome vanilla creative server where you could really do whatever you wanted on and it was soo much fun. There were about 30 of us total so it was a pretty small group but we all became friends and I'm still friends with people on Skype to this day. Then one day some jerk came on and hacked it and blew all these awesome builds up that we had worked on and all that and the server shut down because that was the final tipping point for the owner and he didn't feel like fixing it all... Anyway. What I'm trying to say is that there of course have been griefers and hackers since 1.2.3 but the problem has really gotten worse since MC has gained popularity and more people are using hacked clients.

Some young players are good at minecraft (mostly if their above 11),and thats not really the problem because some 15 years olds still can't even type, like being trolls, calling people kids, etc, but I will agree that hackers ruin games for sure. 1) They hack at simple games 2) They use the most OP hacks they can find 3) They try saying you're a noob 4) They claim they can hack you're account (to "shut you up") if you report them wich they never do.

And yes i do feel sentiment for the older people who have been playing minecraft, i started playing at update 1.2 and this game still has me hooked. But the problem is the people you meet on servers are just down right mean i am not taking the hackers and noobs sides on this one they are truly part of the problem, but older players are not necessarily being part of the solution. Some of you people (yes including me) have handeled a situation with a new player wrongly before have we not? most of the time i see this there are some new players asking for help, which i totally admire, i was to afraid to ask for help when i first started playing the game i was afraid i would be labeled a noob that i resorted to hours of wiki reading, which in the ends was alot more work than i needed to do. Back to the point I will see a "new player" asking for help and i will se someone who is almost certainly an older player telling them to F*ck off, and to go find another server to whine on you D*ck face, and i quote. All i am trying to say is that it is not just the noobs faults, It is our faults too as the senior players who are sometimes not handeling this the way we should, regarding that most hackers are just greifers and jerks but what if a hacker was a player who simply could not find the help he needed, and again i am not siding with the hackers, they can burn in hell for all i care but, what if one of these new players was influenced to use hackes because of the lack of help they were getting, and i know you are probably facepalming and saying that, "well jamer you see you little ass wipe it is not likley that this would happen and you are just trying to make us think you are smart." n, not the case but if you think i am smart than thank you very much! The simple point i am trying to make is that it is as much our fault for not being the solution as it is for them being the problem. and cudos to you if you finished reading this comment!

That's a very long and indepth comment, jamer, props to you for writing all this; the points you make in this reply are valid and I can even see where you are coming from with noobs becoming hackers beacause they don't know any better or even just want to know what it feels like to have diamonds or, like you said, because they haven't quite grasped the concept of the game.

I'd also like to say to you, and anyone else who hadn't played minecraft before the official release that I'm sorry you didn't get to expereience the minecraft community when 99.9% of the players where friendly! :D

I too have been on servers where there are a lot of hackers, such as uberminecraft which you listed. However, sometimes it isn't the hackers ruining the game (I don't use hacks btw) but the people accusing everyone of hacks. On a certain server I play on, you can get better gear by ranking up, at a certain point the gear you get makes it seem like you ARE hacking even if you aren't. To be honest, it is the people accusing others of hacks that annoy me more than the hackers.

i play on mod pack servers such as tekkit and ftb and i never find hackers on there. mostly i think because the owners that play mod packs are much more tech savy and can use pluggins to limmit abuse. so i reccomend playing mod pack servers if you want the best experience. although certain packs can be worse due to over powering mods that can ruin minecraft for some people.

I find that teenagers [not all] are the ones ruining it, not the children.
Like someone said children are learning these things from Teenagers. Not just hacking and such, but also cussing, and because the children find it Epic, Awesome, and would make them cool, so they do it wanting to do all those things. Lets make it where everyone was perfect, which is probably never going to happen, the children probably wouldn't be that way. So in my eyes, its the teenagers doing the ruining.

I find that some kids around my age group tend to also change how they were because a "cool kid" is looking up towards them to become their friend, they do things the "cool kid" and them find "cool" (IE griefing their friends, ext)

I've had one of my friends do that. He:
- Griefed my plot that was hard to make
- Went from a friendly, caring, 10 year old to a rapidly cussing, ignorant, trashbag.
Just to seem like another cool kid around a new friend he wanted to keep as a friend. I ended up ignoring him completely, which, needless to say I wouldn't have gived a flying plate if he cried on it, which he didn't, making it less stressful for me.

There are times that it seems like it is a kid causing it, but in reality its possible X teenager acted like so around X kid, then the kid switched servers causing other kids to do it because they rendered it "cool"

Anyways, just my opinion.

Yeah I understand, but it's not just the teenagers when you think about it; I mean, where do you think they get it all from? Idols, Social-Media, YouTube, etc.

Some teenagers are just like that. My brother [Older] has been that way all his life (not when he was a child as I was told) but with no idols. Its possible they are just like that at heart
