Are modpacks unfair?

This is NOT meant to be a rant. This is just a simple blog/inquiry/question.

ModPacks



I'm pretty sure we all know what a modpack is, and for those who don't know, it is basically self explanatory; it is a pack of mods. It basically takes the minecraft.jar and adds a whole bunch of mods to it, and you can play it without worrying how to install or download these mods.

Now, on to the point of this blog. Are modpacks stealing the credit from other mods? I am a regular modpack player. I enjoy both FTB and Tekkit/Technic. But one day, I just thought to myself, "Wow, all these cool and awesome mods, and I only think of the modpack itself" Now, if any of YOU have looked up the creators and makers of the mods in certain modpacks, you can move on from this blog. AND I have acknowledged that the modpack creators give all the credit to the coders of the mods. I'm just saying, I have never really thought of the mod makers.

What I'm trying to say here is, I've only been thinking of the modpacks, but I will now try to see and recognize the makers of the mods.

Good points, but all modpacks should give credit to the modmakers and although they do this, more people moving onto stuff like FTB and Technic means that the original money that helped support the mod-makers to get better programs and keep their pride is no longer moving in (from donations or adfly or otherwise). As well, even auto-installers (such as skydaz) take people from the original post and through adfly links, supporting the auto-installer maker.

Yes, and I'm sure they do give credit. The thing is, we almost always fail to recognize the modmakers. I honestly wanted to make this blog to help people come to the realization, if they have not already, that modmakers should get more credit than the modpacks. Thanks for including your opinion!

I did, only because I wanted to support him as I used to be part of his team. That doesn't take away the fact I should support the mods more than the pack :P
