Notice: Hewwo guys ^-^ This story is for the "Life of a steve" blog contest, and since I love writing so much, I decided to enter :D This is an EXTREMELY long story, but if you take the time to read it I truly appreciate it and take it to heart <3 Thanks and I hope you enjoy! :)

I woke up. Where was I? Who was I? What happened? Steve. That's me. I remember. I found myself in a room, lying on a bed. I got up out of bed, clueless to anything. I looked around for the door to leave, and I slowly approaced the door. Slighty turning the knob, I could tell it was locked. I twisted the lock, unlocked it, and opened the door. It creeked as I pulled it open. I walked around, and nobody was here. There was no sign of human life. "Hello...?" I asked, calling out for anybody hiding from me. Not one answer. It was dead silent. The creepiness of the darkness had set in. I was scared. There were computers everywhere. It looked like some sort of lab place. I heard a small buzzing noise. Where was it coming from? Is somebody there?

"Hello..." I asked again, seeing if this strange phenomenon is a human being. I heard the crackling noises continue, getting louder as I approached a large black door. I put my ear up to it. I couldn't hear the crackling anymore, yet when I took my head away from the door, it came back. My heart was racing. The blood in my veins was pumping as fast as a cheetah. My face was starting to sweat, and my brain deciding whether this is a bad idea or not. I cautiously reached for the door handle. I gripped it tight. Shivers went up my spine from the coldness of the handle. I closed my eyes, turned the handle, and opened the door. Behind the door revealed a portal. The portal was blinking as if it were going to disapear soon. My curiosity grew. What was behind this portal? I didn't even know portals existed. I took a second to think this through. I manned up, and walked through the portal. A vortex appeared. All I could see was purple swirls and my vision getting dizzy, then my vision became dark, and I fainted.

I woke up lying on the ground. When I first opened my eyes, I jumped. I had no clue what was going on. I saw the portal right next to me, still flashing, but faster. My brain thought for a second. I'm in the middle of no where. I don't know where my house is. I need to get back, so I can find answers to what's going on! I hopped up onto my feet, and saw the portal start flashing super fast. I need to go now! I charged at the portal, and just as I jumped through it, while I was in mid-air, I realized it was gone. I fell to the ground. No. This can't be happening. That was my only oppurtunity of finding answers to where I am. Please, come back. My fate cannot be living in this world that I don't even know the basics of surviving in. I stood up, and realized what situation I was in. There was nobody here. I was all alone. And I needed to survive. I needed to be tough and get through this.

I started walking. I found a tree. I need wood, but how should I get it? Hm. I guess I'll just have to use my fists. So I shrugged it off, and punched the tree. I took my hand away. "OW!!" I screamed in pain. My hand was red and scratched and I could barely feel anything over the excruciating pain. I held my hand in my other hand and waited for the pain to go away, but it didn't. I guess I was just going to have to deal with the pain. I kept punching the tree til' it fell over, and I must've done that with about 25 of them. I carried my logs back to a spot. Well, I need some sort of workbench. I should make a crafting table. So I made one, and there it was. From then, I made an axe and cut my wood into planks. I began building my house with the wood, making doors, and stuff like that. Once I had finished building my house which took me about a day or two, it was really dark inside. I needed some light, so I decdided I should get some windows. I crafted a wooden shovel and began digging up some sand for windows.

I got the hang of how I was supposed to survive out here. It was hard, but I could manage. I learned techniques and survival skills I never knew before. It was a pain in the neck, but it was what I needed to do to survive. I began growing hungry. My stomach growled and told me it wanted food. So I went out, and my quest for food had begun. I searched far and near, and no food. I started walking back, and then I realized what I'm supposed to eat. I saw a chicken walking. It clucked of happiness, and walked around the area of my house. No, I can't. I just can't. It's innocent and vulnerable, I can't do it. I heard my stomach growl again. I knew that was a message from my stomach telling me to just get it over with. So there I walked. I creeped up behind the chicken. I slowly raised my axe high into the air with the sun shining off of it, and-.

I felt terrible eating that night. Yes, I did need meals and that was my only way to stay alive. It just didn't feel right though, I felt really guilty feasting. That night, I layed on the ground trying to fall asleep. I couldn't seem to fall asleep because of some strange hissing noise outside my door. I got up, and looked out my door window. Nothing was there, so I figured it just must be my imagination. I layed back down, and heard it again. I checked again, and nothing was there, so I layed back down. I heard it a 3rd time, and this time it was aggravating me. I got off of the ground, and opened my door. "Who's there??" I asked, shouting out the door. Nobody showed themselves. It was quiet. I turned around, walking back to my spot. As I was walking back, I heard the hissing again. I turned around and there was a green monster coming through my door. I had no clue what to do, so I stood against the wall. It came up to me, hissed, grew big, and exploded. There was a hole in the wall, and a crater in my floor. I grabbed some wood out of my chest and repaired the wall, and I decided I'd fix the floor the next day.

I dug up some dirt, filled in the hole, and covered my floor in wood the next day. I placed my last block of wood, and fell to the ground. I couldn't get up. I was stunned. I couldn't move. Paralyzed. My vision went blank, then all I could see was a weird monster thing. They were roaming everywhere, then somebody picked me up and- the vision ended. I could move again. That was the strangest thing that had happened to me, ever. I don't even recognize anything from the vision, it was weird. I didn't think much of it, and carried on with my day. I started walking through the woods, when I noticed something. Somebody. It was a person. A person?! I was so happy, there was another sign of life, that I gloriously ran over to them. They were lying on the ground, passed out. I had no clue what to do. Take them with me? Then I noticed another thing. It was a girl. She was just straight unconcious. I decided it was best if I brought her back to my cabin, because there is a good chance she will die if I don't.

I lied her on my bed, and sat next to her for about an hour. She didn't wake up. Not even an eye twitch. Was she dead? I grabbed her hand to feel if she had a pulse and she woke up. "What is...WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY HAND!" she said, freaking out and pulling her hand away. I was shocked. I didn't know what to say. "Uh, sorry! I found you lying down passed out in the forest and I brought you in and- uh..." she giggled as I spoke, what was so funny? "Sorry, I just find it funny how you went through all this trouble for somebody you don't even know. My name is Alex." she said. Alex. I fell on the floor again. I couldn't move. Not again. "Are you okay?!" she asked. I couldn't speak, move, or do anything. All I could do is lie there. The next thing I saw was 2 people; a woman and a man. There was this big thing and then it-ended. I opened my eyes, shaken from that experience. What was all about these visions? Are they bringing me to my past? I don't know what this was, but it was scaring me. Alex was next to me, and I could see the horror in her glistening green eyes. "Um...what just happened..." she asked me, in a shaky, freaked out voice. I didn't know what to say. Should I really tell her I've been having these weird visions? No, I shouldn't. "Sorry, I do that when I meet new people. I'm really shy, so..." I said. She giggled. "It's okay, I don't bite." she said, getting off the floor.
I got up too. "Oh, by the way, my name is Steve." I said. She smiled. "Steve, as in Steven?" she said. "Nope, just Steve." I said. So we carried on our day, and she was a great person to help me survive. She could hunt, cook, mine. She made herself a set of iron armor the first day of being here. She was really nice to me, too. She'd find me ores, and cut wood. It was amazing having her around to help. "Alex!" I called outside. "Yes?" she called back. "It's getting close to dark, you should head back now!" I shouted. "Okay!" she replied. And I sat on the edge of my bed waiting for her to come. When all of a sudden, I fell to the floor again. This time, I hit my head really badly on the floor, which knocked me out. I didn't see a vision as I normally do. Hopefully that would have gotten rid of my visions fully. I woke up to Alex lying down next to me, asleep. I leaned up and looked at her. She must've gotten concerned and decided to watch over me, but fell asleep. There was no sign that she had taken care of me except for the empty potion bottle I found on the counter that she probably used to heal me. Wait, how did she get a potion...we don't even have something to make potions with, I don't even know how to make potions yet. I got to my feet, grabbed the bottle, and put it in my inventory. Whoever she is, she's hiding something from me. I climbed into my bed and slowly drifted off to sleep.

I got up the next morning, and Alex was still asleep. I couldn't even imagine how long she stayed up watching me last night. I felt awful for her. So I picked her up, and let her rest on my bed. I left a note on the door telling her I went mining, and off I went. I hadn't been in a mine in so long. I just stared into the pitch black darkness of the mine wondering what lurks in the shadows down there. I started walking down into it. There was absolutely no light. I couldn't see anything. I didn't even have a torch. However, I did have redstone with me, so I lit a redstone torch. It wasn't as bright as a normal torch, but I wasn't just about to complain. I held the torch up high while I slowly creeped through the mine. I found some ores, the normal, coal and iron. But I wanted something stronger. So I began digging down, and down, and down. And I didn't find a single thing. Nothing of what I was looking for. So I went back up. I kept exploring the mine til' I got in a really low point in the ground. I started digging there. I found what I was looking for. The shinyness of the bright blue ore sparkled off of the light and I mined it. It was amazing. After I mined it, it revealed a hole. There was light in there! I jumped through the hole. "Owww..." I said, getting off the ground. I saw books and cobweb everywhere. I began exploring this place and gathering materials.

I explored the whole thing inside and out. Once I thought I was done, I realized I forgot one last room in this mysterious place. I walked into the room slowly. I saw a pool of lava, 3x3, and a circle of some weird block above it. I walked over to the lava, wondering if it was real. I thought about it, then steadily reached my hand int- "STOP!" I heard somebody scream. It was familiar. It was Alex. She ran over to me, her eyes filling up with tears. "Why would you do something so stupid like that...why Steve, why!" she said, now crying. "I didn't know if it was real or-" "Do you have a death wish? You don't just stick your hand in lava to test if it's real or not!" she said, interupting me. "Idiot!" she said, wrapping her arms around me. At this point, I realized how much Alex cared about me and why she cared about me. She cared about me more than I cared about her, and she cared because I was the only person she could ever actually trust, and if she were to loose me...I don't know what she'd do.

I held Alex tight and close to me. We were the only ones here. We needed to survive together. And that's what we're supposed to do, protect eachother. "So...what do you think this is?" I asked. "I dont know. Wait...The holes in those weird blocks, it almost seems like I could fit my ender eyes in there." she said, pulling out some. She pulled out the ender eyes, and ironically, it fit inside. She placed them in each block, waiting for something to happen. "Nothing...?" I said. "Nothing. Guess we tried for nothing" she said, and we started walking out. Then I heard a weird sound come from the lava pit. We both turned around, and walked back up the stairs above the pit. There was now a blackish portal that looked like it went into the galaxy. "I want to see what's down there." I said, getting closer. Alex put her arm in front of me. "Stop. We're going to jump in together." she said. I swallowed, and nodded. We grabbed hands, and counted. "1...2...3!" we said, both jumping in. My vision was gone again. I couldn't see anything but darkness. I couldn't even feel the touch of Alex's hand anymore. Then I found myself, holding her hand again, in a different world. This world had yellowish bricks everywhere, and these really tall black monster things, with pink eyes.

I could feel Alex's hand trembling in fear. I wasn't even sure if it was her hand. No, it was the ground shaking. We both felt the ground shake as we saw a giagantic black dragon swoop down right in front of our faces. "Looks like we got some fighting to do." said Alex. I could tell she had confidence, but so did I. Whatever this thing was, I was going to kill it. Me and Alex split hands, and we both went in different directions holding a bow and arrow. We began shooting at the dragon, but every damage point we caused, it just kept healing itself. Neither me or Alex could figure out how it was healing. "Wait!" I heard Alex shout. I looked at her. "Those obsidean poles, that's where it is healing from! We need to take them out!" she said. So I pulled back my bow, and took out one of the heal things. "Take out more of the healers!" I said. "They're called Ender Crystals!" Alex shouted back. Ender crystals? How did she know they were called that? There's no way to find out they were called that. I ignored it, and kept taking the crystals down. Once they were all gone, we could now get at the dragon.

I shot at it to the head, and it came down right in front of me, and hit me to the ground. It hurt a lot, and I could barely get up. I got up though, and kept shooting it. I could tell it was starting to die, when it hit me to the ground again. It pumelled me, and it hurt so bad. This time, I was unable to get up. Unable to fight. I was weak. I couldn't do it. Alex didn't notice I had fallen, and she was still fighting like a pro, when the dragon knocked her down too. I didn't see her get up for at least a minute. Alex was going to die. She was going to die. Alone. No, this couldn't happen, I can't let this dragon kill her! I have to get up! I did a backflip to my feet, and drew my sword. I saw the dragon in the air. I could tell it was planning to swoop down and kill her. No, no, NO! Alex can't die, not to this stupid thing. Not over my dead body. I began charging as hard as I could. I couldn't hear the flapping of the dragons wings anymore. All I could hear was Alex's voice, stuck in my head. I charged faster. I ran as fast as I could. Just as the dragon was about to kill her, I whacked at it. It turned to look at me now. It came at me trying to knock me over again, but it didn't. I didn't let it. I hacked and slashed my sword at it, heard the cries of it's pain, and kept slaughtering it. It started flying away, and at last second I jumped on top of its back, jumped up, raised my sword, and took one final hit on the dragon.

It was dead. The glory of feeling my sword go through the dragon's skin for the final time was amazing. The dragon fell to the ground and made a loud noise. As soon as I was sure it wasn't going to come back to life, I took my sword out of it, and ran over to Alex. "Alex, are you okay?" I said, holding her head up. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for saving me, you're stronger than I thought." said Alex. I smiled and hugged her. We both got up, and we walked over to the new portal we now saw. It said "You've reached the end. Return to the real world?". What did this mean? Was this just a...game? If I died, I wouldn't really die. "What's going on?" I asked Alex. She looked away, with a disapointing face. "This wasn't real..." she said. "What do you mean this isn't real? This is real life!" I said. "No it's not..." said Alex. "This was a test...to see if you were strong enough..." she said. "What the heck do you mean by that?!" I said, growing angry. "Steve...They put you here because the race outside in the real world is completely advanced. They built new technology, new everything. They wanted to see if people are as strong as they used to be, if they could survive in a world like this. If you couldn't, you'd be executed in our real life." she said. "So this is just a game?" I said.

"Yes, its just a game. They injected you with some sort of drug that would make you play the game and never stop until you beat it and you defeated the enderdragon." she said. "And what about you? Why are you in my test?" I asked. "Because Steve...everyone else failed, and died..." she said. I couldn't believe the words coming out of her mouth. "So they tested the world, and I was the only survivor..." I said. "No, they didn't test the world. They tested orphans." she said. So that meant...that I was an orphan. Nothing made sense to me right now. "Wait, how was I an orphan? What do you mean I was an orphan, I had to have parents!" I said. "They died in a car accident." she said. "You were taken in by a group of scientists, and the monsters that are in this game, also exist in real life. The big black monsters with pink eyes, those are endermen. The scientists took you in as a child, and they were testing endermen. There was an outbreak, and the endermen killed every single scientist. When the outbreak happened, they locked you in a room, and made sure you were safe from dying. When we created your game test, we replicated that room to the room you'd wake up in." Alex said.

"This can't be true..." I said, backing away. "It is." said Alex. "How do you know all this?" I asked. "I'm a program. I know everything about you Steve." said Alex. She was a program?! So she wasn't real either, just like this stupid test. "No, but, you have to come with me back into the real world..." I said. "I can't, I don't exist in the real world." she said. I was broken. My parents were dead, then scientists took me, the scientists died, then I was put into a test from another group of scientists? This isn't possible. And now Alex can't come back into the real world with me. Worse than all those things combined. And now I realized that, my visions were coming from my past. "But I don't want to leave you Alex!" I said, in grief. "I know you don't, but you have to. I can't let you stay. You have a time limit before this game disapears and we both go with it. Go, Steve." she said. I hugged her one last time. "I'm going to miss you." I said. "I will miss you equally...Stevie." she said. And I turned around, waved goodbye, and pressed the OK button.

I flinched when I first got back to the real world. There was nobody there. No scientists, nothing. I was hooked up to an IV and I was sitting in front of a bright screen. I turned off the computer, and I ripped out the IV. I walked around, trying to find the exit. There was nobody here, nobody around. I slowly tiptoed through the place til' I fount the door with lit up letters that said "EXIT". I opened the door, and felt a cool breeze across my skin. And here I was, in the same place I was before. In the survival world of "Minecraft".

Hey,
This is a really cool story! I always enjoy reading a good adventure! Just a few words of advice, if I may. I noticed a couple of words that may not be spelled entirely correct and I would suggest copy-and-pasting that into Word, (or a more prefered program)you know, just to see if there are things needing correcting. I would also suggest you reread your story--and all your stories in the future, at your preference, of course--it often helps me get a better perspective on what may sound better in some areas.
Hope it helped!
P.S. I'm writing my own story on Life of Steve and I think I'm going to have to improve it to beat this!

Thank you for the advice! I do reread my stories a lot and edit them up until I'm postively sure that there's nothing left that I should change. I also did get some advice from some family and friends telling me in what areas I could improve on and things like that. I know some parts are confusing and such, but I tried my very best and I'm proud of myself :3 I also wish you the best of luck with your story! Have fun and be creative with it! :)
