“Average” -An Everyday life.

We live in a world with writings of fantasy, adventure, and imagination. Although those types of stories are fun, we never get to read about “everyday” stories. The relatable ones. The ones that bring back long forgotten memories. This is a story about a self conscious teenager, that I created from the personalities of some of my best friends. Forget Barbie, and her plastic world. It’s time for something new. Something a bit more like everyday.

I looked into the mirror. Reflecting back at me was a girl with long, wavy brown hair, and brown eyes. I sighed. I knew I wasn’t perfect, but sometimes I wish I was. I knows it’s what’s on the inside that counts, and whatever, but in reality my inside is just as bad. I’m a mediocre B student that only excels in art. I have a few close friends, but I’m definitely far from most popular. My life at school is pretty lousy, and home isn’t much better.
My Mom and Dad have been fighting more and more. They try to smile when I’m around, but I’m not a idiot. I think they might be getting divorced. With all this happening, I wouldn’t be able to keep going if it wasn’t for my friend Alex.
Today I got ready for school and started out to my friends house. She lives really close, and we always walk to school together. With my first step outside I was met with cool, crisp, air. The kind that tells you winter is coming. There was a gush of wind and leaf flew right in front of my face. I snatched out of the air and laughed.
By the time I got to Alex’s she was waiting for me at her front door. She smiled before hopping over to me. Yes, hopping. She’s one of those people who can’t stop moving. She talks really fast, and has a short attention span, but her best trait is her willingness to share her smile. She is always there for me.
We walked to school together, joking and laughing the whole time. She even managed to get a snort out of me. When we got to school my smile faded. This is a place of torture. I had math first block. Alex told me to cheer up and gave me a playful punch in the arm. “Ow!” I said, joking.
The rest of the day was class after class. Finally I got to my last class, art. This was the class I loved. I was actually good at it, and Alex was in the class with me. We painted today. It was loads fun.
When the bell rang I started out, but my art teacher stopped me. Alex smiled and said she would wait outside. Confused, I looked up at Mr. Jennings. He looked at me softly and told me that Alex told him everything. About what’s happening at home, and my feelings about it. He swore he wouldn’t tell anyone, and said that if I ever needed anything, come to him. He also said that I was a very talented artist. That warmed my heart.
Giggling in laughter, I chased Alex home. I acted mad, but we both knew I really wasn’t. Alex had been looking out for me. When we reached her house I said bye, and thank you. She had done something I would never have done myself.

This concludes the story “Average”. I really hope you enjoyed.
