Introduction
The nether does kinda suck, doesn't it? Well, not when you need blaze powder, or you need some netherwarts. But how can you survive and thrive in this Realm of Fire, or ROF? (I may refer to the nether as ROF a couple times.)
How Does One Do This Task?
Becoming One with the Realm of Fire is tough. It is literally a big world of netherrack, fire and lava. But some other very rare and valuable items from the nether make it seem very appealing. But as I said, you may light on fire and die, or fall off of a big platform while trying to get to a nether fortress. So is it impossible?
No, of course not. Here are the tips I promised you.
1: Don't go to the nether without iron+ armor and a good sword. This should really be a given, it's the only way to be able to survive these great attacks. Diamond preferably.
2: Get some sort of mini-map to see if there is a drop off to lava or anything else coming up. Zan's is great, probably better than Rai's because of the fact that you can see mobs. If you are looking to avoid a big group of pigmen, and you see some on the map ahead, you may want to get away. Also, when you get it, make sure to check every little while what's ahead of you. It works. Really.
3: When you've done the things above, and only then, get fire resistance potions. You need magma cream to make these potions, so you might want to get some good armor and check the mini-map, (that is optional I guess) for magma cubes as you venture throughout the nether. Fire resistance potions make it very easy to kill blazes and to swim in lava. ONE TIP: CHECK HOW LONG YOU HAVE BEFORE JUMPING INTO LAVA!
4: Make your own nether "fort" anywhere you want in the ROF. The Realm of Fire is full of nether fortresses. Make your own! (Note: It doesn't have to be like a nether fortress.) You can store some extra stuff in it or prepare for an attack on a nether fort. It's like a second home!
5: Be prepared to die. If you don't think you're gonna die once or twice, you're wrong. It's dangerous and almost no one goes in to the Realm of Fire and comes out alive without dying once. Keep some spare items in a chest and make some more armor for when you get back.
