Today, I will talk about how NOT to do a blog, whether it be on PlanetMinecraft, Facebook, whatever. I am not saying that you HAVE to follow these rules, but I am stating what you should refrain from doing.

This is a pretty obvious one. Writing your blog should be pretty easy, as long as you know what you are talking about. Making your blog one big paragraph seems overwhelming, and looks like it could take a considerable amount of time to read, so please hit the Enter button at the appropriate time.

Yes, I did use a Novaskin thumbnail complete with my skin, but I did because I don't know how to make my own. Now, if you don't know how to use Cinema 4D, PLEASE don't try to make your own! If you do, it will look like someone barfed all over your blog, and people will think you're a six year old who doesn't know what the hell he is doing.

Proper typing is key to a great blog. u cant type lik dis oar els u lok frkn stpd, And You Can't Type Like This Because You Look Like A Spammer. So please use grammar!

This one is big, especially for newer members. Spamming your new game or server will not only annoy others, but could result in a flame war and having it taken down, or the termination of your profile. You can do it in the forums, however, but just introduce it in a non-spamming manner.

By this, I mean a blog that that had a title like, 'jdjejdjkejndjejeshdbdnndhehdjdheudsueirsjdu', has a picture of a slaughtered duckling as the thumbnail, and has two paragraphs of 'dnhehejdjejsisidjjdjdjejejsjsisiskksksksowejhrfhhed9ii'. The only valid excuse for this is if you had a random seizure while writing and accidentally posted it. Oh, and it is against the PMC rules to do this.

Announcement blogs are blogs that blogs that, well, announce something, like having 10 subs. Although it works on Tumblr, Instagram and Facebook, it does not on PMC, as it is against the rules. But you can make a skin for that stuff. I honestly don't know why...

Now, as most Minecrafters believe, Herobrine is 100% fake. Yes, there might be that one mentally challenged user who does believe in him, but is unfortunately flamed by his fellow Minecrafters. He/she might try to post a blog about how they found him in his world. But unfortunately, they have no evidence, as they have 'lost it', or 'accidentally' deleted it. Although I don't mind people who do this, nor their blogs, I just have a bit of advice: if you do make a blog such as this with minimal evidence, prepare to be hit with virtual flak, as people will hate you because they think you are a ten year old who is extremely gullible. So if you do make such a bold move as this, at least try to make it look like it really happened. And the same goes for Null, Entity_303 and other creepypastas.

Like, diamond, and subscribe.

It's nice to see that a blog now almost 3 years old is still relevant today. There wasn't anything new for me here but... I have to somewhat disagree with your third item because, well, I actually did find Herobrine and even blogged about it (see link) :)

Ok, that was a bit of bad pun. I didn't really find him, I summoned him, but still thought it was funny. Thanks again for sharing!

These are certainley nice tips, you deserve a diamond for this!
This is great for people who are new to posting stuff on PMC (like me) and don't know what they're doing half the time. This gets a diamond, a sub, a favorite... what else can I give it? XP
Excellent ideas.

*Don't worry, this isn't a bad comment!

Good job, you make some helpful hints about things to avoid. Just something to ponder, why focus on mechanics of a blog instead of writing something that will really reach a lot of people? Not saying that blogs about blog mechanics are bad, just that no one really pays attention to the blog section anymore :/. There's one thing I've found that people want to know and that's building tips. They can be simple or hard, or whatever other topic you can think of. Use your awesome blogging skills to help a lot of people figure out things maybe related to mine craft, or not.

The point I'm making is that you have potential to help a lot of people, I wouldn't recommend doing it blog related tho
Okay. I will take that into consideration.

Number 3 shouldn't be there, it's your blog, you can use whatever picture you want for it.
I'm not saying that you HAVE TO follow these rules for a good blog, I am just stating that I don't reccomend it.

Preferably people should not do blogs at all- unless it's about how to kill cows and stuff. Or making magic circles stuffing a hundred wolves into a cramped space.

5. Don't start your blog with "Umm... hi." :P
Seriously though, good blog. I wish people would adhere to these rules.
Well, I wanted to make it look like if I was personally speaking to the reader, so I could actually get their attention through making the blog seem more personal.

While I understand that, I would still recommend a more confident start - perhaps something like "Hello Again!" That being said, you're the Level 16 and I'm Level 1. So there's that.
Okay, buddy. You got your wish. Scroll up and see the first two words.

You should of put a comma after "Today" to make notion of the natural pause in the sentence. =P

Ah, but really, nice blog.
Whatever you say, buddy.

the only times i think its ok to make your own thumbnail
1. When the subject is about something in minecraft and its a screenshot.
2. When it actually looks good.
3. If you dont care and are just trying to be original (as long as it isnt made in MS paint im good. because thos look TERRIBLE. the quality is bad... the drawing is usually bad.... pretty much everything about them is bad)
4. When its an drawing you made and the blogs about it. But dont just stick random artwork in for no reason.

and if you need to put in something like a demonstration drawing use an actual drawing and take a picture of it. DO NOT USE MS PAINT. USING MS PAINT IS PROBABLY THE WORST THING YOU COULD DO.

Cinema 4D. Also you don't need that, 3DS Max, or another modeling/render software for your photos. You can make awesome ones with Photoshop, Gimp, maybe even Paint.
Oh. I was reading one of my subscriptions blogs and he said that Cinema 4D did it best.

It is one of the best, but I wouldn't say if you don't have it to not try to make your own.

On the contrary, I think that making your own thumbnail is much more "professional" or "grown-up" than using one from NovaSkin. The NS backgrounds are generally very overused and hand-made backgrounds can be much more impressive-looking, even if they are made in MSPaint or something like that.

Also wooooooooooow don't tell people not to use anime pictures on their blogs. Blogs can be about a billion different things and just because the blogs you make don't require reaction images or anime screenshots, doesn't mean that someone else's doesn't.
I'm not saying that it's a BAD thing. That stuff was me just being nit-picky, and I just don't recommend it. People can do what they want, and if they want a picture of Levi from AOT for their picture, fine with me. I can't stop them from doing that. But I just don't see the point in it. I'd rather see a Novaskin thumbnail that is at LEAST minimally reminescent of the topic than a picture from any random anime.
