When we first start in Minecraft, things can be hard. I remember once I was stuck in my hut at night on a brand new world. First day, I didn't have a bed, and no logs to make charcoal for torches to go mining. And there's monsters out front? What do you do? You wait. And wait. And wait. I get the challenge of needing wool for a bed, but you shouldn't have to wait for morning because you couldn't find a sheep on the first day. That's why I think they should introduce cots! Cots would be made by putting a stick on each of the bottom corners of the crafting table, and then putting wood planks the whole way across the middle section. Cots would work just like beds, they skip you to morning, but they don't change your spawn, and they have a limited number of uses, maybe five or six, to make the game a little more difficult. Also, the radius in which monsters could be in for you to sleep could be enlarged or shortened to make the cot an easy way to skip today at the start of a load, but harder for you to use in the long run. You shouldn't have to wait because you don't have sheep in your area, so that's why minecraft needs cots.

This sounds like a good idea, but you would need to find a way to make it so cots could replace beds entirely. If these cots do the same as beds, then why even need beds? Cots are cheaper.

True, but they couldn't replace beds entirely. They'd only have one or two uses before they'd fall apart and you'd have to make another. Granted, it's not a lot of wood, but... OHH!!! You could only use cots your first few days! After that, you could still craft them, but you couldn't sleep on them anymore! Not good for yer back :D

Limiting them to only your first days isn't a great idea, but the falling apart one is great.

Perhaps it wouldn't set your spawn as well.

Ehh... Maybe. Honestly, now that I'm better, I do think that going out at night and hunting spiders isn't too bad, I honestly think this idea would get kind of complicated.

I like the idea. I was thinking maybe add stuff, like if you can't find saplings, a make-do sapling made out of dirt or something.

Thank you for your feedback! I don't know about a craftable sapling, because trees are just about everywhere, and dirt is too easy to find, but maybe you could add certain dyes to an oak sapling to give you others, maybe white dye with oak for bich, brown for spruce, and green for jungle... If you want to, you can use that idea for the contest, since you kind of gave it to me in the first place :)
