i have a wide imagination so drawing randomly without looking at a picture is something i do a lot, learning in a drawing class isnt that helpful because they teach you boring techniques to draw, while when you practice and try stuff for yourself, it transforms your drawings by time into more complex, detailed, shaded, i started shading my creations in highschool (i finished highschool, im 18, so of course i am more experienced) im meaning to say that learning to draw through youtube toturials is not something you should always do, practice through copying it might help very well, than try may be copying with the shade, so you have some understanding of the shading and how it works. hope i helped again, and good luck.
