I've been watching Death Note a lot lately, and as such, I have a lot of thoughts in regards to it.
It's an interesting anime, I haven't read the manga, but definitely plan to.
I really appreciated Ryuzaki and Light's friendship through out it, even if Light did eventually cause Ryuzaki's death, I feel like Light still cared for Ryuzaki on some level, but his feelings for Ryuzaki just weren't as strong for his desire to be god, and his view, make the world a better place.
While, with Misa, she assisted him in making the world a better place, even if she didn't always remember that she was the second Kira, and I like to pretend that even if Light was sometimes harsh towards her, that he still cared for her, they did live together, you'd have to hope he became more caring towards her and perhaps even got to know her more.
I never really liked that Ryuzaki died, but it drove the plot forward, they were at a dead end.
I didn't like Near, either.
He's a flawed character, most of them are, but Near's flaws just happened to earn my ire a little more easily.
I liked Matt and Mello, though.
I always thought it was a shame that Matt had so little screen time, and the fact the police shot right away, said a lot for what Light had done to the word.
Everyone knew that criminals would get killed by Kira, that they wouldn't stay alive long.
Why have a trial, or even take criminals in, when they would just be held until Kira killed them?
Yup.
