Introduction
So many people disapprove of 'Anime' and call those who watch it, 'Weebs' or 'Weeaboos'. And why? It's all part of the Japanese Culture. Go ahead, call me a 'weeb' but I'll just shrug it off. I'm proud to watch anime and this blog is all about why. Any other Anime watchers out there, stand tall ^-^ !
WARNING: IF YOU DON'T LIKE ANIME, DO NOT READ!

In fact, Anime watchers tend to be highly satisfied in their lives and here's why:

1. They Like Vivid Colours -

Many anime shows have lots of colours and distinctive art styles. Being exposed to these colours regularly can positively impact your mood, or may even help you pay attention to the more vibrant things in your daily life. True, not all anime have bright colours because some anime are meant to be dark and depressing but regardless, the colour scheme will always suck you into whatever world the artist is trying to create.
2. They Learn Things Often -

While there are Chinese and Korean anime, a typical anime is Japanese. Anime fans come from all corners of the globe so for anyone watching who isn't Japanese, anime can be rather educational. You learn a little bit about Japanese culture regardless of what anime you're watching. And if you watch the subbed version of anime you can actually learn some Japanese phrases and words.
3. They Exercise Their Imaginations -

You have to have an imagination to watch anime anyway as most shows feature really crazy concepts and alternate universes which you just cannot view realistically. For example one of the most popular anime right now, is 'Naruto Shippuden' which features a light-hearted ninja teen who uses the life energy from the giant fox demon living inside of him to become stronger. Another very popular show is 'Attack on Titan' my favourite which features a group of people trying to survive the giant, naked cannibals called 'Titans' who come into their town and try and devour everyone. Y'know ... Stuff like that. Anime nerds are used to jumping into highly fictionalized shows therefore using their imaginations much more regularly than the average person.
4. They Explore Meaningful Concepts Regularly -

Despite the unrealistic nature of most anime, many shows teach viewers a lesson or explore at least one major thematic issue central to human existence. For example, 'Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood' explores the themes of kinship, death and destruction. 'Sword Art Online' explores how we construct our perceptions of reality and what makes one reality the true one.

5. They Really Value Friendship -

Of the core concepts discussed in anime, friendship is often one of them. Many shows emphasis on how rare a truly good friend is, and this makes many anime nerds really appreciate the good friends they have.

6. They Always Have The Perfect Cure For A Bad Day -

Everybody has a terrible day in their life at some point, and one of those days is when you don't want to deal with anything or anyone. Anime is perfect for those kind of days. Regardless of what you feel. Anime has many genres, some of which are more light-hearted, sci-fi or serious. You can always fin something to cater to your bad mood.

7. They Know Nothing Is Impossible -

One of the best parts of an anime is how often they can surprise you, sometimes for the better but other times for the worst. But if anime nerds know one thing, it's that nothing is impossible. There are so many twists and turns you can almost start to see what could happen in the show because you know that it's not impossible and can actually happen.
8. They Can Easily Make New Friends -

Not only is it easy for anime nerds to be open to making new friends but the community of anime fanatics is huge even in the U.S alone! This makes it really easy to find a new friend who you have a lot in common with.
9. Most Are Comfortable With Being 'Weird' -

Unless you watch anime, you probably think anime nerds a little be weird.but it's okay as long as you aren't mean. Very few people are born watching anime so you probably would have thought anime nerds were weird at some point. (I know I did!) Anime nerds are often used to being called 'weird' and some feel comfortable with ourselves because of it.
10. They Get To Cosplay -

My final reason is that anime fans get cosplay. Cosplaying is when you dress up as a character from an anime, TV show, comic or even a movie. It's kinda like dressing up for Halloween but whenever you feel like it. It's typically done with other like-minded people at large conventions. This can mean everyone can have a sense of togetherness and also it's just a ton of fun!
That concludes this weird blog. I kinda rambled on and I know not all the reasons apply to every anime fan out there. I mainly wrote this to show that anime fans aren't weirdos. I hope you enjoyed even if I kinda sounded like a hippie throughout the whole thing ^-^

Dunno why I bumped into this again, but just realized how many holier than thou persons there are in this conversation. "Anime is weird, that's a fact" or "It's nothing different from normal television". Clearly that's their own opinion on the matter. I'm not much of an anime fan, and will probably never be, but the fact that someone below even called all anime fans "nutcases" is "plain out stupid". If you really think it's nothing different than any other tv show, then what makes them any bigger nutcases than yourself? Anime is quite popular, it's "weird" to the kind of people who listen to fist-bumping music and Taylor Swift, just like Death Metal, and other forms of metal, has a big crowd, but it's still considered "weird" because of a general opinion coming from the mainstream pop culture that includes mostly football fans, people who likes anything Kanye West or Justin Bieber puts out, and usually always wear any clothes that "celebrities" go in. We live in a world, where people cannot figure out to just be themselves, and have their own opinion. And in the end, does it even matter?

I liked your blog Enn, not getting into anime, but nice blog eitherway

Hello Mr Dinosaur Fanatic, I was literally just looking at your artblog, tf

Seeing as this blog is pretty old now, I'm not really into anime as much as I used to be. I appreciate your opinion and agree that's very true and kinda sadistic valid point, though the hate and the arguments in the section below is all nonsense and quite frankly pointless.

Well said AntonNov21 C:

Dear the people who are hating on this blog, You need to re-read this blog and not just skim over it. If you read the last part of the blog it says "I mainly wrote this to show that anime fans aren't weirdos" They aren't insulting other TV shows just sharing their opinion. Just because you don't like anime doesn't mean you hate on people who do. At the top it says "WARNING: IF YOU DO NOT LIKE ANIME DO NOT READ".

Except normal tv isn't as vivid, the news is all about the world slowly decaying and terrorism, and the rest is crime shows and mindless blabber.
You're kidding me, right?
Ever heard of the show Lost? Or Fringe? Maybe Chuck? How about Community? Heard of Workaholics? Those are only a few western television shows that are good, and if you think that Japan doesn't have crappy live action crime shows and depressing news you're wrong. Watching some anime and saying that it's better than western television is basically picking and choosing your points, anime and western television are both basically the same thing. You need to stop thinking that anime is some higher form of art and cinema that deserves more appraisal because you watched a few and thus think you've seen it all.

*sigh* I knew people on the internet couldn't simply accept peoples' opinions as such and learn that all people are different and thus have different interests. Personally? I think we're both right on some points in that these are two valid and enjoyable things and if you can't accept that then well sir you can go suck a lollipop.
I never said your opinion is wrong, you said your "opinion" in a matter of fact way which means you think it's fact, not opinion. That, or you wanted to express your opinion in a factual manner. So don't go preaching your "accept other people's opinions" crap to me when you literally just went against it in your previous comment, I'm the one saying they're equal. I never took a dump on anime, you took a dump on everything but anime. I didn't try convincing someone that anime is better than western television, you did.

Like seriously, take a look back at what you said. Completely re-read this entire conversation and tell me again who isn't accepting other people's opinions, the guy saying they're equal or the guy saying that anime is some vivid Utopian television medium?
I'm sorry to butt into this conversation but YOU need to re-read this blog. They are not insulting other TV shows/styles. They are simply saying that they like anime! They aren't saying that anime is better than the shows you like either.
This conversation is a month old, I've made my points. They're not insulting other cultural mediums, they're just saying they're less "vivid," "meaningful," and "imaginative." You should re-read this entire conversation and the blog itself, because I've already made myself clear.

Not to mention, only the first comment in this chain is directed at the blog, everything else is directed at Faz here who was saying only "normal" television was about terrorism, and crime shows. And I already went over that part, I'm not starting this again.

The anime and manga culture is hardly part of the general Japanese culture. A lot of anime are just bastardized, idolized versions of Japanese life. It's okay to like anime, as do I, but it's cringe-inducing content like this is what gives the fanbase a bad name. Don't trust to justify why you like watching TELEVISION. Just watch it, weeb.

Shrug, shrug, shruggity, shrug.
Bullcrap, all of these sound like distortions or some way to find something obvious out of your complete obsession with anime. The fact remains that "anime nerds" are brainlessly obsessed with anime and Japanese culture, and they literally live and breathe anime. The people who like anime seem to be total nutcases...

I have no obsession with anime. In fact I only watch it time to time. This is mainly about sticking up for people who are criticized for what they like.

And saying that all anime lovers are nutcases is generalization. I know I'm not a nutcase :P
Maybe anime nutcases wouldn't be "criticized for what they like" if they weren't crazy about it the vast majority of the time. Not to mention how many of them are a bunch of weeaboos that would probably even be laughed at in Japan.

Most of your points on this article are also highly inaccurate or just plain laughable.

but senpai why you hate on anime! Whats more laughable than people who watch anime? people who go on a MC website, to hate on people who write blogs about anime. You sir are a joke :) have a nice day tho, don't let me spoil it!
I don't go on PMC for that reason? I just came across this blog and I had to click it seeing that I have a particular dislike of anime fanatics. In addition, your logic makes you sound like a total idiot. How about you properly use the brain you have (assuming your brain is functional)? If you could use actual logical reasoning, you would have the ability to figure out that I clearly don't go on PMC with the intent to browse through anime blogs, and criticize them.

you think you are clever by using words such as "logical reasoning" but logical thought requires evidence. I have seen evidence that you like to use PMC for the reason that i have stated above but you have provided no evidence to disprove my earlier comments. Simply replying to my message and stating that my brain doesn't function correctly, isn't at all a logical and if i'm brutally honest makes "you sound like a total idiot". Also may i add that by the tone of my comment, i think it was pretty obvious i said it in a humorous tone thus making you crying all over your keyboard unwarranted. Have a good one tho, im not really a mean person but i do like some good old anime banter. :p
I am not attempting to be clever, please stop making a fool out of yourself. What evidence do you see that I use PMC for the pure purpose of only hating on anime? That's more easily done in some crazy anime fandom website, which I do not have time to do. You're an idiot.

hey there m8. Can i call you m8? well may i first of all apologize for not making what i said clear. I dont mean you only come on to pick a fight with anime fans but instead that you come on only to argue with peoples opinions and be a big bully on peoples blogs. May i further apologize for not telling you that my evidence comes from your activity on your profile, with quotes such as: This isn't even something worthy making an article off of. And please pick up a book on Grammar." and "Watch that video, you're too easily butthurt.".

In contrast to this your evidence that i am an "idiot" and am "making a fool of myself" comes from the fact that i appear lighthearted rather than your harsh and brutal tones. If i could teach you one thing from these comments please may it be this. you may have opinions on many topics. Many of which are probably shared by other people. But It is not necessary to go out of your way to argue with people you know think differently and insult these people for their different opinions because it almost always leads to hostility.

Ow and sorry Enn for turning your comment section into a fighting grounds. Great article tho, and hope you make many more :)
I come on "only to argue with peoples opinions and be a big bully"? Please prove it. So by your reasoning, making a comment against this blatant propaganda blog means I only come on PMC to make fun of others? You're plain out stupid. Those were simply two statements which were justified because of people being easily offended.

Your lightheartedness is easily covered up by the stupidity of yourself evident in this. I didn't "go out of my way to argue with people" because it literally only takes me a couple minutes to type up this response. I have free speech so I can argue forward my opinions whenever I went, so mind you stop being acting like a dumb little communist trying to silence me? I have a particular dislike for anime fans, so I have every right to critique the behavior of them, especially on a blog dedicated to defending them.

hey m8 no need to get down in the dumps about this. I never said you didn't have the right to freedom of speech, because funny enough i don't have the power to take that away from people. All i am pointing out is that your not a very nice person by needlessly bullying people on PMC.
I have been a member of this site for nearing 4 years now and i get fairly upset when i see ignorant people trying to force their arrogant ill-guided opinions onto other members of this site. Whats wrong with people liking anime? whats wrong with people disagreeing with the way you see the world? its all part of being human and the sooner you realize that the quicker you will grow up. All you do by ranting on blogs such as this one is make people hate you which makes me sad because this site is meant to be a child friendly community where people share MC related creations with friends and your ruining that community.
Also when you come out of your 'wingy teenage i'm so much better than everyone else' stage then i would suggest watching an anime so you can have a better understanding on this topic. I would probably suggest a short one if its your first time, like i don't know fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, gurren laggan or my personal favorite assassination classroom. :) Afro samurai is probably a nice one for you too and it stars samuel l jackson as a voice actor which is pretty neat.
I'm not needlessly "bullying people" because you were the one who started it by making a false assumption about me. I never said there's anything wrong with necessarily liking anime, but many "anime nerds" are just total nutcases who live and breathe anime. I also never said i'm "so much better than everyone else," again you're making an idiot out of yourself. And no, i'm not interested in whatever you're suggesting.

Read the last bit:
"That concludes this weird blog. I kinda rambled on and I know not all the
reasons apply to every anime fan out there. I mainly wrote this to show
that anime fans aren't weirdos. I hope you enjoyed even if I kinda
sounded like a hippie throughout the whole thing ^-^"
Most anime fans "are weirdos" when you consider the absurd behavior that many of them express. Your reasons in this article were also very exaggerated or highly inaccurate. For example, you can't learn much about a culture by watching a few cartoons. Watching anime also shouldn't correlate to being more imaginative, since it's simply a CARTOON. Having an obsession with a cartoon won't help you make new friends either; many people do in fact look down upon "anime nerds." Just because some Americans have a disturbing obsession with anime doesn't mean watching it will help you make friends. Considering the VAST majority of people don't care about anime, the numbers just don't ad dup.

1. I can agree. Some animes look beautiful.
2. I cannot agree. Using anime as a tool to learn Japanese culture and its language is very flawed. While I do agree kinda about learning its culture, you're not gonna learn much, unless you actually go to Japan IRL. And learning Japanese through anime is a REALLY bad move. People should learn the language through books, not through a show made for entertainment.
3. I can agree, although, anime isn't the only form of media that does this.
4. Same as 3.
5. Same as 3 again.
6. Again, same as 3.
7. Not really. Some things are impossible. And while anime explores many things that a normal human wouldn't do, doesn't mean it can do everything flawlessly.
8. I half agree. Finding friends in real life is a struggle, since anime is still not as popular as things like video games, or comics. But online, yeah, you can find alot of friends with a similar liking to anime.
9. 100% agree. While some arn't as comfortable being classed weird, most fans of anime agree that they can be weird. There's nothing wrong with weird.
10. Also 100% agree. Cosplaying can be a really fun activity.

Great blog. Didn't agree with everything, but still a good read.

For number 2 I know it's very flawed to learn Japanese through Anime though what I mean is that you can pick up some simple things to say.
For number 3 it's true that nothing is impossible but it kind of opens up to what you can and can't do.

I appreciate that you left this comment and that you thought it was good. I expected people not to agree with all of these things so thanks ^-^
