Hello everyone! I'm starting a new series called "Disproving the Myth", where I'll be disproving common myths on the Internet. Please subscribe to catch all of them! In this blog, I'll be disproving the myth that Macs aren't gaming computers.

Have you ever heard anyone complaining that they hate their Mac because it's so slow? I bet not, but I'd bet that you have heard people complaining about their slow PCs. This is because almost all Macs made within the last four years are incredibly powerful computers, capable of doing just about anything you throw at it. (don't literally throw stuff at any computer please :P) I use my Mac for gaming, 3D modeling, animation and compositing, and programming. It was made in 2009, and handles all of these processor-intensive tasks with ease. I consistently get 60 FPS when playing Minecraft, an infamous graphics hog. My family owns another iMac, made quite recently, and it will run Minecraft at 300 FPS in fullscreen while playing music.

Now, some people have brought up the argument that not many games are built for the Mac. However, this argument is outdated. Mojang and Valve both have Mac versions of almost all of their games. The Mac App Store is an application that ships with OS X 10.6 and later. It contains nothing but Mac games and apps, all at reasonable prices and downloadable with a click of the mouse.

If you are one of the people who still thinks that Macs are not gaming computers, go play a game on a Mac for a little while. You'll come back to your PC and long for that blazing fast Mac.

(If a Mac is out of your price range, building a "Hackintosh" may be the right choice for you. There are several tutorials online on how to build a computer running the Mac OS built out of non-Apple parts.)

And finally, to end on a light note, a joke for you.

Lmao just give up. Have I ever heard someone complaining their Mac being slow? Hell yea, have I ever heard someone complaining about their PC being slow? Yea, but those are bad PCs, have I ever heard someone complaining about their Gaming PC being slow? No. Mac can run simple games, but can it run Crisis on ultra? Can it run GTA V on ultra? And can it do that and have 144fps? No. On top of that, Mac are absolutely rip-offs, let's take a look at the iMac, the better imac costs around $3000 aud, which has a (I think) i7-6700k because it's 4ghz quad core, sure, that's fine for gaming, but let's take a look at the GPU, radeon r9 M395x with 4gb vram, yea sure, that's pretty ok for very entry level gaming, but remember the $3000 aud price? You can build a desktop with the same price, but have like a i7-6800k, 16gb ram, 512ssd, 1tb SSD, a liquid cooler, 1000w power supply, with a gtx 1080 -_-, which is like 20 times better,
the Gtx 1080, has much higher *getting some air*:
Much higher clock speed
Much more memory
Much higher pixel rate
Much higher effective memory clock speed
Much Higher memory bandwidth
Way Better floating-point performance
Way Higher texture rate
A lot more render output processors
WAy higher memory clock speed
much more shading units
much more texture mapping units

Macs are good for simple games... You can play minecraft on it, but you can't record it with 60 fps.If you'd play others games with higher/better graphic It won't give you 60 fps or more.My friend has newest iMac, he bought it for like 1300 euros, he has shaders 20-30 fps (for me extreme lag) while my other friend got a PC for 500euros with shaders 60 fps and more

You didn't disprove that myth, sorry.
Better luck in blogging next time!

Your friend may not be taking care of his computer correctly. Advise him to clean out his hard drive and repair permissions. I have a Mac mini with an i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM, and I can record at 60 FPS and run shaders with no lag. And as for saying that I didn't disprove the myth, choice of computer is a matter of opinion. Let's agree to disagree and move on.

Well, I'm sorry that your friend had a bad experience with a Mac. However, that doesn't change the fact that Macs can, in fact be used as gaming computers, with impressive results.

Yep, more and more game developers are building their games for the Mac OS.

well,i agree. mac's are powerful computer's... but your OS doesn't have anything to do with your computer's performance.

I know it doesn't, but the fact is is that more and more game developers are building their games for Macs, meaning it is now a completely valid option for gaming.

If you just really want to continue to use an operating system where you can't close apps and to shut down your computer, you have to scroll through settings menus, then that is also an option.

I personally do not like macs. I prefer the PC, but it is what I have had since I was born. I can't say I hate Macs, but I don't see why you would want a Mac gaming computer. I think microsoft has better software for gaming than Mac.

Not true, the Mac App Store is a massive collection of games and apps specifically for Macs. I understand your view about compatibility though.

I don't know a whole lot about macs, I just wish people would stop this "Mac Vs Pc" garbage. It does not really matter. I prefer the PC other prefer the Mac. We all have opinions. And I need an Iphone 5 then I could understand a bit.

If you can, get one of the new iMacs or Mac minis. If you really want a laptop, just look around the Apple website. They don't have that many models. Keep in mind, a desktop will be better for gaming.

I have heard someone with a mac say that they were lagging or it was "slow"
My friend Jackeranda343 uses a mac and lags with minecraft at 10-30 FPS
I use a PC and run Minecraft at 80-150 FPS

Is it an old Mac? If so, you can't expect an old Mac to perform as well as a modern computer.
