Are you tired of having your base raided and/or griefed on a Hardcore PvP server? Are you tired of being discovered, killed, and raided on a Hardcore PvP server? Just hear me out and give a diamond then. This first part will be devoted to your first few minutes and to set up a base.

Step 1: Get as far away as possible, preferably to a forest. This you want to do during the day or wait for day. Run, swim and dig quick. If you find a forest a good way away from spawn, mark the coordinates or simply stay the night.

Step 2: When night falls, unless you had luck to find a forest and get wood, a sword, pick, etc., dig down 3 blocks of dirt and go in the hole. Then, block up the block above you. If you found wood, got a sword, pick, torches, etc., find aa small and block it off with dirt except for a 1x1 window. If you are concerned about other players, stay out of the field of view and sneak to hide your name.

Step 3: Wait for day break and come out. If you had the first option of step 2 happen, wait for 7 minutes, check, then pop out and keep running, repeating steps 1 and 2. If you got through the success of step 2, you can expand to get some cobble and maybe find a cave system or resources you can use.

Step 4: Set up a temporary base or, if the spot is good enough, a permanent base using what is suggested below. Once a base is set up, get good tools, start mining, then craft diamond or iron gear and prove yourself in the Hardcore PvP world.

The next section will be ways to hide you and your base.

1. When in it, sneak. If anyone spots your name, you will likely be targeted, raided, and/or griefed.

2. Don't put something noticably manmade as an entrance or as the base. A major thing they will be looking for is unnatural objects such as cobble or a door. Some things you could use are smoothstone or iron ore, which isn't as good as some people look for iron.

3. Don't put a visible light near the entrance. Some raiders go at night because bases with a visible light near the entrance are easily seen.

4. Make your base underground or in a mountain, concealed heavily with fake things, like make it look like a mineshaft that was abandoned, or add many twists and turns.

This last section is for things you need or may want in a base as a bonus.

1. You need a small room with a workbench, a furnace, and a large chest filled with junk like dirt and gravel. Hide your valuable diamonds in the furnace. Most raiders go for chests and presume the furnaces are empty. They take the junk and leave you with your diamonds.

2. Load the outside with traps such as landmines, pitflalls, or dispensers filled with arrows, preferrably behind lava.

3. Have a 4-digit combo lock at the entrance using AND gates. Here is a video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtC0ONeXpqI&feature=related - This was made by TheKyshu. Check out their channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheKyshu?feature=watch

4. Have a heavily concealed storage room filled with large cests. Say..., make a tiny room that looks like a simple cell trap, a chest with a sign saying, "(Insert-name-here's) Diamonds Only!" behind an iron door with a button powering it. If a thief enters wrong, he's in a cell trap, but if you enter right, a secret door opens up to the storage room.

5. Add a library, which can add class and double as an enchantment room and a brewery.

Now, I could go on and on, but I will just stop here, it's long enough already. Let me know what you think, leave a comment or diamond. This is my first blog ever.

I have a realm and i play with my friend, and then we have a game in which he has to chase me, and if i get found in set time, i lose some diamonds. If the time runs out, i win his diamonds. So, to hide easier, i am building tiny camo shacks with access to underground tunnels, but i am unsure how to hide them. BTW we are in a jungle biome. Can someone give me advice?

Although my comment will more than likely go unnoticed, I thought I'd throw in some little details that would apply if building on a server with a livemap feature:

-Build the door/tunnel entrance facing north. This will prevent it from being spotted on livemap

-Do not build any form of a ceiling on above ground. It's best to have an underground base

-Build erratically. Seriously. If you look on a livemap with the isometric x-ray function, you can see tunnels. If you make your base look crappy, your good. Make it square, people will wonder whys there an unnatural square there.

-Be fast! Get in your base and out as quickly as possible when you need to go to it.

-Build at night. I mean real-life night, when the server is empty, as to avoid people finding you while you make it.

-And, of course, follow B1nary's tips. His tips work beautifully on a server without livemap. But pair it with this: and your golden on a livemapped server.

Actually, my friend has a huge castle above sea level, AKA, above ground. I may show it in a tutorial some time.

Ah, good point...I've done that myself...just made a floating castle in the middle of the ocean, with a [lift] sign in the water. That may or may not be like what your friend made, but if done right, that's a viable option too.

This works GREAT. I made a copy of it on my server in the Redstone workshop with all the wiring visible so anyone else who gets on can see how to make it.

The only one problem with this is that people know what to look for... not trying to put it down, these were really good tips. If I ever do multiplayer hardcore, I will do this!

Some of them, yes. However, others they don't. I am especially pround of the furnace trick. I think my 2 favorite tricks are the furnace trick and the hide-in-a-hole running trick. And I would recommend you do multiplayer hardcore, it is really, quite fun.

Correction, they can, but it is a little harder. You would need at least 4 layers to keep your name invisible. That would be expensive and dangerous to do. Preferably, I prefer the ways I suggested.

I make tons of secret entrances. using redstone and decoys. I also make a decoy house somewhere nearby, so if im seen in the area. They will find that house, and raid it instead.

I do that as well, and I hide pistons within a decoy base, someone sees me actually go IN, and I have many secret entrances that even if they are right behind me, watching, they can't use. I will go more in-depth in todays tutorial, as that is partially what it is going to be about.

Easy one that I like to use. Use a lot of switches as decoration, but one actually works. Only one. Put redstone under floor that opens metal door, on other side of house, behind a painting. :DDDDDDDDDDD

Everyone knows the painting trick, and no raider would just stop at a bunch of switchs, they would switch every one of them. A better way would be to hook up the other ones to a landmine, pitfall trap, or suffocation trap. Or maybe a flaming arrow trap. :P

Another thing you should do, if you decide to sneak in ur house the whole time, is change the sneak key to something more convenient for you.

Reasons I like this post: It gives good ideas about how to stop griefers and raids, without complaining and crying about it.

It doesn't act like all griefers are heartless jerks, it accepts that griefing is part of minecraft.

Finally, it is original, and is made completely to help people!

except they are heartless jerks. who attack small random servers for absolutely no reason and hack to destroy your spawn, -_-

Anyway 1 diamond from me for good tips, although i honestly think redstone to hide your base is overrated and hardly works

I would like to point out something.

there are two types of griefers:

The ones you stated, who hack to ruin servers. Those ones are jerks.

However, the griefers who grief and steal on servers where it is allowed are perfectly ok. Not all griefers are hackers so don't put them all into one category. Even the ones who grief on servers where its not allowed are still not that bad. Honestly, servers that don't allow griefing but don't do anything to stop it are almost asking for it.

Your right. Absolutely right, but griefing still just doesn't sit well with me in either case, i don't know if its just me but it seems horrible.

I built my base 30 blocks underwater near no life. Also it has no light near the door and the only entrance is a small 1 block hole. The best part is that I made a giant throne room under with a hall way leading which is were you enter from. Point being is I added a hidden switch opens these unnoticeable side doors in the hall way.

Though I do also raid (on servers that allow it of course) and everything you'v stated is so true. These are all the things I go for when searching! Great job!

Depends how far and if you sneak. If you sneak, a serperation of one block and they don't. And if you are within 16 layers of bedrock, I believe you are hidden.

Guys, a little thing to note, I am designing these for vanilla. This means no x-raying will be included, no flying, and no teleporting. So please, don't say stuff like "Here's what you should do for x-rayer griefers..." I am aware there are x-rayers, and the servers I use nearly instantly ban hackers, which, BTW are mcpvp.com and mcctf.com.

hey i have a suggestion. if you make a piston entrance use a button if your going to keep somthing there. put a button on a block of stone. most people will look over it because of the color

A little tip for that, use cobble instead. Stone buttons still show the shading too muuch. But, as I said before, don't use it at the entrance to the base.

Ah, well, hello again. As for the secret piston entrance, I didn't include it because: A) Sometimes people listen for pistons, as they are quite noisy. B) Pistons are man-made. C) If you want to use it, use it for the entrance to the storage room.
