Ah, Minecraft... A game that is filled to the brim with creativity and a crap load of mobs! All of the things in this glorious game would seem perfect, but it's got a lot of flaws. I mean, look what they did to PvP battles in 1.9! Oh my gosh! But today, I'm not talking about how I'm going to improve that. On this "episode" of Eli's Extreme Renovation: Minecraft Edition, we're going to improve the creative side of Minecraft more than it has already achieved with "The Sparkle Update", which includes actual 3-D models for skins, and an in-game texture pack.

"But Eli! Doesn't Minecraft already have the ability to edit textures? Why add 3-D models in a game where everything is squares!? This breaks logic!!" Oh, my fellow Magikarp. You think that these "Minedeas" are going to be garbage? Well I think not, because we're going to look at existing mods and see how the Minecraft developers themselves could possibly implement these features without any need to make a mod for it. Without further ado, let's start with the easy one... 3-D models.

Now, the reason why I say this feature is easy to implement is because CSGO did this. "But Eli! Don't you hate CSGO?" Look, I know I talked about CSGO with such hatred in the past, but bare with me. Sure, I hate everything about the game, and heck, I don't even play it myself. The only thing that caught my eye while my brother was playing on there were those weird multiplayer servers people could make. Why do I bring this up? It's because some of these servers can let you have 3-D models of any character from any franchise you desire to shoot things or hop around doing some parkour. Some examples I saw were Mario, Eve from Wall-E, and a few others I couldn't point out myself. It was amazing, and I would love to play around as Peridot while mining for sparkly blue diamonds.

I know that you can edit the player model to make it unique, but why not grab a 3-D model, upload it as your skin, and use it in the game? Many mods managed to pull this off, like Pixelmon, Mo' Creatures, and probably a few more that I can't think of. Making it all the more possible to have 3-D models become wearable by players would be the beauty of what the morph mod (Made by iChun) would pull off. You can take any 3-D model (with the extension of ".smd" as seen when looking through Pixelmon's files, if you still have it), upload it like you would do for a normal skin, and it would replace the blocky model entirely unless you want it back. You can even make your own 3-D Models if you're really talented in that field and you want to show off your skills.

The only setbacks to having this would be that bigger 3-D models are not allowed to be used. That means you can't use Groudon from Pokémon, Aku from Samurai Jack, or anything that would make it unfair to players with smaller perspectives compared to the big first-person perspectives of those 3-D models. Same for those that are smaller models, like cats, dogs, chickens, mice, or anything that can fit into tight spaces. The only way you could use smaller models is if you go into Singleplayer mode or that you can go onto servers with bigger/smaller models enabled, such as those with Warrior Cats servers. You can still use 3-D models like Peridot, Tyrion (From Game of Thrones), KO (from OK KO Let's be Heroes) because although small, they still would be considered human models. Giants aren't allowed, unfortunately; unless you want to be Shaq or Michael Jordan.

If this concept confused you at all, you can thankfully opt-out of this if you want to keep your blocky friend. Just know that you can update to see player models, or you can stay at your recent old update where everyone can still be at the good old Steve/Alex models that they were meant to be. Anyways, it's time we talk about the last feature of the "Sparkle Update", the in-game texture pack editor.

If you're like me, you might go and make your own texture/resource pack (I'm calling them texture packs throughout the blog because it seems to roll off the tongue easier) to spice up the game a bit! Every texture pack maker has been through this, but updating the textures of your already existing pack can be tedious. This is exactly why I don't update my game to the newest version instantly, because I want the new version to look spiffy as well. To fix this issue, I decided to think up a clever in-game GUI called the "Texture/Resource Pack Editor".

This unfortunately is only available in the Sparkle Update, which would be a newer update, causing it to say "Resource Pack Editor" instead. While in the GUI, you can paint blocks, items, mobs, and other nonsense; all like what you would do outside of the game. You can even edit the text too in-game, but it'll ask you to open the file in word and restart the game with a button. It works kind of like MS Paint mixed with flash pro. You can draw with pixels (like MS paint's pencil), or you can use a brush (like flash's pencil or brush) like in flash. There's unlimited colors, and there's even an undo button! How convenient! Once you're done, you can hit the save button, and it'll restart the game for you (And yes, this can be used to counter the restart issue while loading up servers in multiplayer as well).

Another fun thing about the editor is if you miss a few updates, it'll ask you if you want to edit any newer textures that Mojang/Microsoft has released for the newer updates that haven't been updated yet. If you do not want this popping up nonstop, click the checkmark that says: "I do not want to see this again. Go away, please." and you can enjoy your old textures until it updates again. If you have no texture packs, the GUI is always disabled, so you can enjoy the game without it constantly annoying you every 5 seconds.

Well, that's all the time I have to explain about these wacky Minedeas! Next week on Eli's Extreme Renovation: Minecraft Edition, we'll be off to improve the crappy 1.9 PvP by replacing shields with fluffy bunny guards! See you next time, and stay smart my friends!

Holy crap! I just saw! Thanks for believing in me, even though I thought I wasn't going to make it... :P

(I bet you I'm going to get a low placing somewhere in there... :P)

Yes, I still read comments, no matter how old they are (And that's a Periderp/EliTeenDolphin guarantee!)... :P

Anywho, thanks for the compliment! I have a feeling that this blog isn't going to make it into the finals, because not a lot of people read as much blogs nowadays because of the addicting new forums and feed features. Either way, thanks for making me feel a little bit better about it, because although I still don't care about whether I get into the finals or not (Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if I got a participant rank or getting 30th place like I did in that "Once Upon an Eli" blog that I did a year ago), I still do these contests just to show how much effort I put into these and put it to the test. Let's just see what happens when I wake up and check PMC...

Really? I never knew you got 42nd! How bad could yours be compared to- *starts reading the blog* Oh (Side note, I read your old Sci-Fi blog while looking for your entry, and it was pretty good! I couldn't stop reading Sylvia's dialogue in Peridot's voice, and when you manage to get me to do that, you get a seal of approval (or an imaginary sticker)! xD). Somehow, that comment right there makes me feel a little better about the situation at hand, but not by much... :T

I mean, look at that guy who did the infinite building blog! He's got an absurd amount of diamonds on that (even for blog standards), and the first round is based on algorithims and math! RIP me... :P

Why would the resource pack editor favor Microsoft Word over other text editors? What about people who don't have Microsoft Word?

Well, just like how you hit "open with" on your desktop/mac when you don't want to open a text file with something like word, in the Minecraft settings, you can choose the text editor that you want to use in the resource pack editor so then you don't have to use MS Word. It's supposed to be the default text editor, so if this response manages to clear up that detail, good for you!
