Escaping The Fires โFinally!โ I mumble as my stupid math teacher excuses me and my class from math. Itโs about six weeks into school already and we havenโt done anything hard in math. I thought seventh grade math was hard! Well thatโs what my older sister said when she was in seventh grade. Not to brag but Iโm one and probity the smartest student in my class. So Iโm always ahead in class.
Like if you are watching my teacher teach a lesson to our class you would see the teacher ask if anyone can give the answer to the problem and explain how they did it. With a blink of an eye you would see my hand shoot up at rocket has I try to get my teacher to call on me. But of course she look across the room and wait until another student raises their hand. She knows that I am way too ahead and wants to give other students a chance. Once I heard my parents talking about me switching to school for more academic students or skipping a grade but I have a feeling thatโs not going to happen any time soon.
I get out of my seat and walk towards the door of the classroom. As Iโm walking out of the door of my classroom I look up at the sky โWow the smoke is getting worse and worse every hour.โ I mumble to myself. Literally I donโt even know why we havenโt got evacuated yet. The news guessed that my area will probity get evacuated in about three to four weeks. I live close to the mountains and the school I go to is a thirty minute drive to my house.
I walk through the locker area in till I get to mine. I open up the old locker door and grab my phone. I press the home button to check the time but I see something else on my screen thatโs I pay more intention to then the time. Itโs a text from my mom. It says โDonโt take the bus. Iโm picking you up from school.โ Okay? thatโs pretty strange because I never get picked up. I donโt know why sheโs picking up from school but I donโt really care. I probably have a doctor's appointment or something.
I start to walk to the pick up area. I see my sister looking around for me. This is getting even more suspicious. โMari! Iโm over hereโ I yell at my sister. She walks over to me slowly and grabs my hand โcome on letโs go.โ Mari says in a worried voice. She looks me in my eyes and I can tell shes been crying. Iโm not sure if I should let her hold my hand because I canโt remember the last time weโve held hands. I decided to let her hold my hand because I think it would be even more awkward if I let go.
I follow her as we start to walk towards the parking lot. I just realized that I haven't even asked Mari about whats going on. I guess I just cough up in my thoughts so I forgot to ask her. I see moms car with her andโฆ Dad? Shouldnโt he be at work? I step inside the car slowly and buckle my seat belt. I look behind me and in the trunk of the car. I see three suitcases packet with stuff and everyone in my familyโs emergency kits. Oh no. I think I can guess what happened now. โM-Mom did we get evacuated because of the fires?โ I say in a worked voice. She turns her head around looks me in the eyes and slowly nods her head while her eyes start to water.
Wow if your reading this im surprised that you've made it this far. I actually made this story for a English project but I really like how it turned out so im posting it here. This story is about a girl who gets evacuated from the fires in California. I live in California but I haven't seen any smoke in a wile from them. Should I write chapter #2?
