Oi, everyone! It's me, Ocean, and I'm back with day seven of my birthday countdown! Days five and six were spent trying to fix one of the private servers I own, so I couldn't be bothered to do Blog posts on those days (don't ask for the IP's, they're private for a reason). But anyways, today's Blog is on something that is a common sight on the Servers area of PMC.
Today's topic: Factions servers
Now, I know what most of you are thinking. "Ocean, what's wrong with Factions servers?" Well, there's lots of things wrong with them, actually, so let's get started!
One of the things that really makes me not like Factions servers is the Staff on some of them being really cruel and overall corrupt. I know that not all Factions servers have this issue, but I feel that it makes the game less fun for the players, since you'll have Staff that get their pants in a twist because you don't want to join their Faction on the server, and then you'll just have the ones that are flat-out rude to a new player asking them a question, and then banning them for something the player had no idea was bannable, like taking a block of dirt from a chest. I mean, if you're not playing Agrarian Skies, it's not that bad, because let's face it, dirt really has no use unless you're either, A. Being a farmer like Sjin of the Yogscast, or B. Playing Skyblock. The Staff Factions are also usually really overpowered, since they're owned by the Staff and they have the ability to just chage their gamemode into Creative.
Another thing I don't like about Faction servers is how rude every Faction is towards each other. They just say terrible things and blaspheme about the Factions they hate, and then someone gets mad and launches an attack on someone who's offended them, and then the Staff has to get involved if it becomes out of hand. Again, I'm not saying all Factions servers are like this, but there are a lot out there. The ones I've usually been on are rather calm about this sort of thing, though, so I guess I've just been lucky.
The third and final thing I don't like about Faction servers is the usage of grief, raiding, and the act of camping in a person's base and spawnkilling them. I understand that that's just how that kind of server is played, but I don't see a reason to want to do that to someone, especially a new player on the server or to the game entirely. Something else that really irks me is that after the damage is done, they actually have the nerve to put signs down that say things like, "lol nice house bro", "you got griefed", or even "you got raided lol". I mean, it's bad enough that's you've taken everything of value, and now you're taunting them? That's pretty much cyber-bullying.
