This tutorial in the Feed the Beast modpack (Direworlf20) shows how to use lava for EU and MJ power with Geothermal Generators and Magmatic Engines. You will need two liquid tesseracts, roughly 30 cobblestone waterproof transport pipes, at least one geothermal generator and magmatic engine, one chunk loader, one pump, one nether portal, and some other items that are discussed in the video.
