Hello! and welcome to the introduction and resolvment of either bad staff, or bad owners.
I am Marco Chavez, otherwise in game known as marcochavez15.
What I will be informing you (my audience) today is the pyschological state of the owner and the staff member, what they should be like, and how i see majority of current owners and staff.

Staff!
          Hello, lately you have been wondering, "What could I do better, what am I doing wrong?" and to answer the question, let me ellaborate. Staff is supposed to have this mentality (on most servers) "I am staff because i enjoy the helping others have a nicer gameplay, I am mature, and I follow the rules and prompt people with reminders of the rules when they seem to forget". This is how a staff member mentality isn't, "I am staff because I am digging the staff powers I have gotten, me and my friends have been able to get things that normal people havent been able to get *snickers*, I get to mute anyone I want, so don't bug me". Now I know occasionally some annoying player constantly requires your attention, but the first step is NOT to mute the player. You see the mind of a minecrafter is often in the sense that they are playing minecraft for some release from the outer world, or they enjoy the dominance they recieve because you can't see one another's true faces, you do not know if someone is having a bad day or not, and making false accusations could make you loose players and/or the group of friends along with that player. The apropriate steps to take when there is someone who isn't following the rules or who is bugging you is to give a warning with just your text, simply asking is a great way; now to add on, you must also ask politely, if you are being polite no one should have any reason to do anything rash. Staff, you are not in it for the powers! Now if I go on another server and see some 5 year old ignorant staff members i will write another blog about NOT joining the list of specific servers.

Owner!
           Ah! Hello! I see you want to dive into the void... or... I guess you could call it owning a server. Owning a server is different from being on a staff team, you have to manage all the plugins, ensure that all of them are working right, and manage ranks and permissions along with making sure none of the worlds are in any conditions you wouldn't want them to be in. Lately i have seen some servers where the owners hire people who have only played on their server for no more then 2 weeks, DO NOT DO THIS! promoting someone who hasn't played much on your server will cause dislike from the people, and the ignorance of staff, before you hire someone to work on your server you want to make sure they follow all rules and that they would be able to recite them. Another thing is that you don't want to overwhelm staff by having a short team, have as many as you think you feel necissary but also ask the staff members if they feel there should be more, also have a democracy in promoting new staff, as promoting players to staff without the other staffs' permission would cause rumors and uproar within the team. Concluding my message to all aspiring owners or new owners, you do not want to create a popularity of yourself, because you will have to get that stupid plugin that stop people from saying your name in chat because, eventually you will get tired of seeing your name. Now no one enjoys having that stupid message "Do not say the owner's name in chat".

Potentials staff!

           I am glad to see you wanted to take my advice on how to become staff, first of all you don't want to ask for it the first day you join a server, always get to know the community first, to see if you would enjoy the job or not. SImply because you would not like to find out that you don't like that server. Another thing is to not enjoy staff because you get powers, the eagerness to be staff should come solely from the fact that you want to help others, and helping others doesn't always come with a staff rank, sometimes you can do it without a rank, Just be yourself. Another thing is that you don't want to constantly ask for a rank-up, if you believe you are doing good enough, you can simply present the Owner in a formal matter with evidence that you believe may help the owner decide. When trying to become staff the most important thing is your vocabulary, sentence structure, and the way you talk to other people. You never want to have a short-temper, an anger problem, or social issues when it comes to being a staff member, it will garuntee issues in the future.
