Hey sweeties! A couple of you asked how I shade, so, I made a tutorial!

Links for anything that, well, needs a link, will be at the bottom.

Note: I use MCSkin3D by Paril and whtdragon to make my skins.

So, um, here you go!

First off, I block in my main colours on top of a base I made. I don't bother with colour palettes or

anything like that, the dodge/burn tool is fine for me. Also, I finish blocking in the hair after I've shaded the clothing.

Next I use the dodge/burn tool set to burn (the one that looks like a pin) with the exposure set to 37 and outline the edges of any part that's 4x4+ pixels large with four overlapping lines.

Sometimes, depending on the colour. you may want to increase or decrease the exposure, for instance when using the dodge tool on hair.

On any part smaller that 4x4 pixels (for instance, trainers and shorts) I do something like this

(more or less miss a line):

Oh by the way, if it doesn't seem dark enough just increase the exposure by about 6-10. On the shoes

it wasn't dark enough for my liking so later on I did that part again with the exposure set to 46.

After that I go over each corner with a 2x2 pixel square, still using the dodge tool, except not on the tops+bottoms of legs and tops of arms (and in this case the shoes and shorts but go ahead if they're more than 4x5 pixels)

Now I'm nearly done and I just need to add details!

This skin has a hood that's down and I'm not very good at shading those when they're on the hat part of the skin,

so I just do it on the back of the torso. For this you'll need a colour slightly darker than the main colour of

the hoodie to make the shape, and I set the exposure on the dodge tool to 6 for some light shading. Likewise for the

front pocket.

Now all there is to do is the hair, and I'll put the link to my hair tutorial too.

But before that I just want to show the importance of having the correct exposure set:

Too much makes it seem over-shaded

And too little makes it look unshaded.

(Yes, that is in fact shaded!)
