The rest of the trek Angel spent coiled around George’s burned wrist. It eased the pain and George stopped flinching at every ray of sunshine. What surprised George most about suddenly being able to understand animals is how she completely misunderstood some of their personalities while hitting others right on the mark.
“Man I never thought I’d be so grateful to see that fold-up chair,” George sighed.
“It’s amazing how circumstances change your perspective,” Twitter informed her.
“Angel, how old do you think the guy following us is?” George asked.
“No more than 17, why?” Angel replied.
“Your what two? And you’re calling HIM a kid!? Heck if he’s actually 17 he’s only a year older than I am.” George exclaimed.
“Time passes differently between species,” Angel stated simply.
“More importantly how do we even know someone is following us?” George said exasperatedly as she leaned down to open the door of her log shelter.
“We don’t, you ever heard the phrase better safe than sorry?” Angel retorted.
“Knock it off you two, I know you’re both stressed and you’re both tired, but that doesn’t mean you have to take it out on each other.” Twitter chastised.
“I know you guys have done a lot today already, but could you take turns keeping watch while I catch a nap?” George asked wearily.
“I’m sure we’d all be happy to,” Twitter replied matter of factly as George flopped onto the makeshift palette under the log shelter.
“I’m sorry I just, need to rest my eyes a bit,” George said through a yawn and whispered to herself, “Maybe if I take a nap I’ll wake up at home and realize this was all just a dream. A wonderfully weird dream…”
Hope you enjoyed the story and have a nice day! :D
