Getting Attention: How to get your project noticed
  1. Be InterestingDo different types of projects, if you just do medieval houses all day long nobody will stick around for long, blogs, mansions, arenas, servers, anything you can think of!
  2. Start off SmallDon’t be so ambitious right away, it doesn’t matter if you made a project that’s over 1,000,000 blocks and amazing and nobody notices it, start off with small projects, tutorials, little houses, etc. Then start going big.
  3. Stand outThere is a lot of junk on PMC, don’t be part of that. Download shaders, take nice screenshots, maybe even create picture! A good example of this is the Full RGB Colored wool Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4 (http://www.(Ad link removed)/full-rgb-colored-wool-mod/), now those picture gather attention! Make sure you have a nice title too, announce your title, but make sure you have a slug line to get people to click it. Example: Team Conway Presents: The Kingdom of Farhtendura, OVER 5000+ BLOCKS!
  4. End with somethingDon’t just let them click straight away after they’ve seen it, you worked hard on this!   5. Go big or go HomeIf your serious about this, not just the type that posts a project just for the heck of it occasionally you’ll want to get everything you can possibly get your hands on to make yourself be known, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, anything! Having a video for your map makes your map much more believable and is very handy in convincing people to like it, also make sure that early on you enter all those contest, appearing in the top 10, even the top 100, can skyrocket your progress and popularity very much.
  6. Surround yourself with good peopleHave you ever been in groups working with people and noticed that one guy who never does anything? This guy constantly disappoints, doesn’t finish on time, forgets the materials and generally screws things up. Don’t be that guy. If you’re working in a group which is highly recommended don’t just get yourself kicked out, be serious, work hard, and play hard. And if you notice that one guy who isn’t doing anything after multiple warnings, give him the sack. You’ve gave him chances and he hasn’t delivered, find GOOD people, not crap people. On the other hand don’t rule with an iron clad grip if you’re the ruler, people have their own styles, let them express it, you’re just here to steer everyone in the general direction.
  7. Be honestBe honest with yourself, too many people these days I find spend 5 minutes on something and think it’s good, too many people I find tell me they’re good and make something completely crap, set high standards, push yourself to go above and beyond! Once in 5th grade me and my friends made a slot machine for a math probability project, we could have just stopped after we finished coding it, but we didn’t. We made a tutorial video, we made a creators page, we drew funny little picture, we pushed ourselves. Generally stick by this mantra: “If it’s crap it’s crap. Deal with it.” –kwatson 1-24-14
