Good of you to come folks, a little bit of controversy has been going on between Notch and the Yogscast at Minecon and even after it. I'm sure you know who the Yogscast is, if not, who are you showing up on Minecraft websites without knowing who they are. They're the most popular Minecraft players with a total of 1,213,836 subscribers and counting.
Anywho, knowing how popular these fine chaps are, Notch invited the Yogscast and gave them their own booth. The two showed their videos, talked with fans, and everyone had a good time. Except for one small thing. If you ever saw their videos, you'd know they curse quite a bit. Enough that you'd plug your headset in and crawl to the depths of your room where your mom would never find you.
So the Yogscast dropped the F-Bomb at Minecon. Maybe more than once. Or twice. Or five times. Who knows.
Whoever knows, we all know that Minecraft is played mostly by younger kids, and someone had to take them to Las Vegas.
So a variety of 10-year-olds and their parents listened to two guys cursing, and Notch really didn't like that. So the obvious answer to that was not telling them not to do that or giving them any type of warning, but to outright ban them from Minecon forever. Notch has spoken with the Yogscast before and I'm sure would have seen their behavior coming. Such a drastic measure might have given Yognauts a reason to take the Yogscast's side. But today, Notch started posting Tweets that might have made them change their opinion...
"I'm very sorry about the behavior of the people we won't work with any more. Celebrity or not, you don't f-bomb kids."
"Yogscast repeatedly insulted people, talked behind their backs, refused to cooperate, and acted like total spoiled divas nonstop."
"They called us "a bunch of nerds who don't know how to run a company", demanded that we pay them to come here (nobody else got paid)."
"And they claim they're the reason minecraft is big and that we should thank them more than anyone else in the community. They're total dicks"
Check out the Tweets here.
If what Notch is saying is true, the Yogs were being pretty disrespectful to Mojang and were pretty demanding. But there are two sides to a story, and I have no decision on who is correct.
Later, however, Notch posted this...
"All this said, I'm very tired at the moment, and this will probably pass. I do like the work they do, very much."
Ah, the old "I'm tired" excuse...
Notch claims he likes their work, and I'm not sure if he had control over HatFilm's trailer, but the Yogscast were even in the Minecon trailer. Who knows? Maybe Notch might forgive the duo, or they might forgive Notch, and they might be at Minecon next year. Maybe he wont let it go and will decide that their behavior did require such an action. Only time will tell.
That's it for now, folks.
Until next time...
