Hiding

They follow your every move. At night he's not even visible. During day he won't do strange things. but once you're in your bed and you see him, you're done.





Alright, let's start the evening routine. first of, put on my pyjamas. I picked it up from my chair and pulled it over my head, but when I looked through the cloth I saw a shade. the figure of a young boy, about my length. I pulled it further over my head and he was gone. I thought it was just my imagination.

Going on with the routine to the bathroom. i picked up my toothbrush from the holder and got the toothpaste. I put it on the brush and started brushing my teeth. i looked at my hair in the mirror. sleezy, long and dirty, as if i hadn't heard of showering. I spit out the toothpaste and looked up again. my mirror image was still facing the sink. I widely opened my eyes, to make sure i wasn't half asleep. the mirror image looked up too and after a few seconds gave me a smile. then the mirror image returned to my own. scared and confused. I put down the toothbrush and went back to my room. i put off the big lamp and put on the light on my nightstand. I noticed i was still wearing my socks and pulled them off. I flung myself in bed and turned off the light. there was one of those nightlamp for children in the corrider and beamed a small portion of light through the small opening of the door. after 10 minutes I realized something. there was a vague shadow becoming more clear every minute on the ceiling. I couldn't get my eyes of it and after a half hour it revealed the shadow of a boy, the one i had seen earlier. He raised his hand, showing a claw on every finger. It slowly slit across the wall towards me. I got out of bed, trying to avoid the claws.

I ran downstairs. as quick as possible while trying not to fall. downstairs the lights had already gone off. they were both laying on the couches."Wake up" I said. no response. I walked towards the lamp and turned it on. I wanted to turn around when I felt something wet at my feet. no, it wasn't my own pee. I looked at my feet. A puddle of blood was on the floor, stretching through the whole living room. I turned around and saw that the stomachs of my parents were cut open and the blood was already dripping of the couch. I looked back up again and saw the boy. he look identical to me, just without the claw. he raised his hand and told me:" Time for a haircut".

The light of that lamp was the last light I ever saw. what happened after he told me that, I don't know. all I know that ever since, I have been his shadow. We swapped places. And every day again I have to watch how he kills people. Quietly I hope to be free one day, but until that day, I'll just have to sit through.
