Hello, ladies and gents. Today I'll be informing you all on how I feel everyone should be handling what they post in the "Blogs" section of PMC, as stated by the picture above all of this writing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me get things straight. I've spotted quite a few continuous reasons that led to me making this post, such as:
Click here for an example of someone who provides great blog posts!
Having what you're going to post planned out, or let alone having an idea of what you're going to post before you post it, is a key step in making a successful blog. I can't even keep track of how many blog posts I've see that had the potential to be great, but were just unappealing aesthetically and grammar-wise that I wasn't surprised there was such little feedback (also disappointed. Some were underdogs that deserved good attention! We all know how jealousy can kick in when it comes to 'high ranks getting all of the hot-spots!'). They just seemed like a project one would throw-together the night before it's due, or even worse, during the class before it's due.
Blog posts aren't your dreaded projects. They're fun! They're serious! They're whatever you want them to be! They're yours and you control everything about them. No need to rush; you do these things on your own time. Have an annual blog that you're finding difficult to keep up with? Modify the schedule, or, PLAN! With every week/day/month having a set topic, there's no need for your posts to be lacking in quality!
This is simple; don't give your blog a title that is: A) Completely irrelevant or B) A false promise. Yeah, of course; be creative, but let it relate to the topic. Allow the reader to click it because they want to read it. Nothing can be worse than having a good blog, giving it a rubbish title, and getting tonnes of hate due to the fact people want to rage about the title being a lie (or they just don't like the topic they were tricked into reading). Like the common saying, "Quality not quantity!" (this phrasing doesn't apply directly to the topic at hand, but interpret it differently and it does!).
Content. You must have an idea of what category your post falls under. It's not hard, you are offered a good amount to choose from. If none of the specific-ish ones fit, then there is the other section! It's not hard to select the one that common sense tells you it falls under, so just do it and save yourself a load of butt-hurt from the people that want to confront your wrong section choice. (Yeah, you know there are people that like to do that out there).
Pictures. They're easy and fun. You might not have one that fits perfectly with your subject installed on your computer already, but something relating to the subject for a picture is better than a bland blog post! People click for the pictures, and don't make those misleading, too. There are many things you can do for pictures, such as: Google images (keyword being your topic), making your own (drawing, or words, like me!) or requesting someone to make one for you! (Requesting, not demanding. Also, give credit where credit is due. AKA if you didn't make an image yourself, acknowledge the person that did make it. No breaking the rules!)
First of all:
Let me get things straight. I've spotted quite a few continuous reasons that led to me making this post, such as:
- Posts in the wrong sections (Poetry in Comics, 'Check out my Profiles' in Interviews, etc.)
- Titles that are misleading/completely off-topic
- The blog ending up to be a jumble of "Pshhhhhk fdskaljgodisfjioweaf DIAMOND SUBSCRIBE FAV. XX!"
