Have you considered a fishing rod? Also, the string on a bow is pretty thick, so I think steve just doubles/triples it up to make it thicker.

I just thought of something. The bow would probably be the size that it would normally be, because strings aren't elastic, and you cant pull regular string back and let it go and expect the arrow to fly... so he probably weaves them in a certain way (Not exactly sure how elastic or stuff like that is made), and then by the time its all weaved up, it's probably the size of the bow. (And if you want to be REALLY technical, the bow wouldn't work at all, the arrow would stick to the string, because it came from a spider...)

Diamond, sub and favorite! Sheesh, you cracked me up with the bow! I totally agree with you. Also, since it takes 4 string to make a wool block, and a piece of string (the item) is about 2.4 meters long, that would mean that 9.6 meters of string go into 1 block of wool... so instead of it being like this:
0 = Steve's head
|| = Steve's body
O = Wool block
U = Half a wool block

. 0
O ||

It would be this:

U
O
O
O
O
O
O
O
O 0
O ||
its good my blog made you laugh. Good idea though might go into the second one.

You could go further with this.
Something to do with a wool block? You can use string to craft them. And also, when you place string, it's only a block long, so it's a metre O.o Not saying tat your blog is wrong, just maybe take tha into consideration.. :)
It's a great blog, don't get me wrong! I enjoyed it, and maybe you could expand it. Here's an idea.
How big are buckets?

Well, they'd have to be atleast a metre, because when you go to scoop up some water, it takes a full block of water, which is a metre of water. But even then, the bucket is still not completely full...
Conclusion: Buckets are bigger than half the size of steve... o.o
yeah I got tons of replies on how to improve it, im thinking of rewriting is and making a how long is a piece of string in minecraft 2

The string is one piece. It curls around and under. It's just the shadows in the art that make it look like 2 pieces.

Do you really think that a single length of string would be strong enough for a bow? But if you took three lengths of string, and braided them together, that would make much more sense. So then it would end up being about the length of one of the pieces of string. Mystery solved!

I thought the string was one piece of string, it just curls round and under itself. O.o

I hate budder too. So I will give you diamonds, emeralds, iron, lapis lazuli, redstone, and BUTTER. (there is a difference between budder and butter) The following info is copied from Wikipedia:
BudderFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaNot to be confused withButter.Budderis a concentrated form ofTHC, the mainpsychoactivechemical incannabis(marijuana) that contains up to 99.7% THC and 5% o 15% total cannabinoids (THC/CBN/CBD),[1]several times more potent than the buds of the cannabis plant that are usually consumed (5%o 25%). Notice that Budder refers to the high purity concentrate of high potency starting material. Budder is concentrated bho or butane hash oil. Some bho concentrates are of exceptionally high potency, while the precise Cannabinoid (including THC) content is especially difficult to measure accurately without sophisticated technology.

You should've measured it with the maximum range of the fishing rod, It may be harder but easier to understand really!
interesting idea!

I think you forgot that all pixels are not equivalent to each other. It's 16x16, there's not really a way to take exact measurements. Seems to me like the string model is just one piece looped around itself, as well. If all pixels were equivalent to that amount, one piece of string would be several meters long. Another thing is, have you considered you need to reinforce the string used to make a bow? One line of it isn't going to hold it together for a long time.
idk, its not mean't to be the most accurate blog in the world, its just meant to be interesting.
