Hello everyone, I'm here to tell you that Minecraft is not just entertainment. It can teach people things! For example, if you like building, that teaches you a bit about architecture and graphic design. If you like making skins and texturepacks, that's graphic design and artwork. If you like making complicated adventure maps with a complex storyline, you could be a writer! If redstone is your thing, maybe you could be a programmer or an engineer. Minecraft has endless possibilites and is a game about creativity and finding new and different ways to survive in a world where the sky is the 256-block-high build limit.
Before I got MC, I could care less about different types of trees, ores, medieval architecture, and I didn't even know what an ingot or an anvil was. Once I got the game, I learned about all of those things. Minecraft is a game that sparks creativity into people's minds. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want! (especially with Creative Mode) And the possibilities just don't end with mods and plugins, texturepacks, skins, and servers.
Some schools have Minecraft-based classes, that teach you how to program and make mods. I read about a graphic design class that used Minecraft to teach students how to make 3D art. You could make your own class for teaching noobs on a server. My friend OldManWilikers25 pretty much taught me how to play the game without cheating or dying constantly.
There's so much things that can be done in Minecraft and don't require a coding genius or an art master. Anyone can play Minecraft for a little less than 30 dollars. There's pretty much no boundaries and no one to stop you from what you want to do (unless you're on a server) and the fun doesn't end once you're done. You can share your work with PMC and help others learn to build like you, or make redstone machines like you, or make detailed pixelart like you.

And for all those old codgers out there who insist Minecraft has no educational value, YOU'RE WRONG. WAKE UP.

As a teacher, my mother understands that her students are in love with Minecraft, and as such, understand why I enjoy it so much.

If you didn't understand the beauty of medieval culture and technology until Minecraft, I feel sorry for you.

Well that was when I was about 10 years old, and most 10 year olds don't care about medieval culture :P

Most 10 year olds are blundering idiots, then.

If I have something valuable to say, which I do, I will say it.

Most 10 year olds need to learn how to break free of the mold they have been brought up in.
Most 10 year olds also need to try and understand the importance of history, and medieval history is probably the best starting point. The politics were simple, and there are a heap of great mediums of learning about it.
