Hello all! I'm Skeley. Today, I'm going to teach you the basics of breeding. I will not get into EV and IV nor Ditto breeding today, that is for another post coming soon.

Backstory: About 2 years ago, I created a guide called "How To Breed In Pixelmon 3.3.3". No obviously, it's outdated now considering all the new features that have been added to breeding. I will update this post when the Pixelmon devs release new features to the breeding mechanic itself! Now, to the actual post.

So, starting of, you'd want to craft yourself a Ranch Block. The recipe is as follows:

How To - Breed in Pixelmon - 4.2.1+

Now that you have a Ranch Block, you should decide which Pokemon you want to breed. Let me list some base requirments.

Same Egg Group
Different Genders

Different Genders is self explanatory, but let me explain Egg Groups.

Pokemon are catagorized by Egg Groups. These Egg Groups usually show a specific attribute that all the Pokemon in that Egg Group share. For example, Dunsparce's Egg Group is the Field egg group most likely because it is a Snake classified as the "Land Snake" Pokemon. So, Dunsparce is only able to breed with other Dunsparce and other Pokemon in the Field Egg group!
(and Ditto).

Now, I'm going to be breeding a Female Dunsparce and a Male Dunsparce to gain a Level 1 Dunsparce. Though, before I get there, in order for a Pokemon to breed, it must be in a comfortable enviorment. You can find what blocks your Pokemon are comfortable in here. Again, Pokemon will not breed if they aren't in a sutiable enviorment! The higher the number next to the block (eg. 3), the faster your Pokemon will breed. Since Normal type Pokemon like Dunsparce use Cake as a comfortable enviorment (for some reason) as their highest numbered block, I will place that block down with the Ranch Block.

Oh yes, the Ranch Block, let's Place this little guy down!

undefined

It should look a little something like that. By hovering your cursor over the block, you will see the range of the ranch block. This is where you should place your block for the enviorment. It looks like this.

undefined

I'm going to place down the Cake for the Dunsparce to breed.

undefined

Now that you've done all of these steps, It's time to start breeding you Pokemon! You'll want to right click the Ranch Block and you'll open a GUI that looks like this. It will also give you status if there are already Pokemon in your Ranch Block or not.

undefined

You'll then want to click the Manage Pokemon button and you should then get a GUI that looks similar to as of a PC.

undefined

Please note that you can only breed Pokemon if they are in your PC box! They cannot be in your party. I have 2 Shiny Male and Female Dunsparces' that are ready to ready to breed! You click the Pokemon that you would like and they will move to the bottom Hotbar of the GUI. You may now exit out of the Ranch Block GUI. You may now see your Pokemon in the Overworld. Other Players cannot take, battle, or catch your Pokemon. They are unable to use your Ranch Block and the Pokemon are uncatchable in the Ranch Block Overworld Form! You'll see something like this!

undefined

Now upon right clicking your Pokemon, a message will appear, such as a status. The message may be a variety of things that all mean different things. These are the meanings of all these phrases.

You may also notice this "Breeding Level". Breeding Levels are determined by the color of heart above the Pokemon's head! This chart might help you some.

Level

No hearts

2
Purple Heart.pngPurple
3
Blue Heart.pngBlue
4
Yellow Heart.pngYellow

Red Heart.pngRed

If you happen to be on a Minecraft Server Client, when you offline or if you aren't in the Ranch Block's loaded chunks, your Pokemon will still continue to breed! Though, if you are in a Single-Player world, logging out stops the breeding process. The higher the level, the closer your Pokemon are to producing an egg! Once you Pokemon reaches Red Hearts, it means that your Pokemon are finished breeding and have produced an egg! Once you right click the GUI again, it should look something like this

undefined

Upon clicking Claim Egg, you will be given a, well, egg!

undefined

You must now walk around until your egg hatches. By going into the egg's summary, you can see a clue on how much longer the egg might take to hatch. A "step" is the time taken to cross 2 Minecraft block at a normal pace (not sprinting). If you have a Pokemon with either the Flame Body or Magma Armor abilities, hatching times will be cut in half. These Do NOT Stack. Once your egg hatches, you earn the level 1 form of the mother Pokemon's first evolution! For example, I earned myself a little level 1 Dunsparce! Aww!

undefined

Now, you may of noticed in the previous pictures and in the one above this text, there is a Hourglass. This is called "Isi's Golden Hourglass". This item helps speed up both all Pokemon's breeding level by 1! Another item, or "Isi's Silver Hourglass" is an item that helps speed up Pokemon's breeding level by 1. The name Isi is a direct reference to one of the Pixelmon Mod's Administrators! The item is only obtainable from boss drops. The items' look as follows!

undefined

To finish this off, the ranch Block upgrade is item that can expand the Ranch Block are past your Default 9x9. The Upgrades seem to have little to no use. Upon breaking your Ranch Block, all of the Upgrades will be lost. The item is only obtainable from Boss Drops. The item looks like this.

undefined

Quickly, I'd like to mention whatever Pokeball the Mother Pokemon is in will be the Pokeball that the newborn Pokemon will be in!

Also, in order to produce their base evolution, these 3 Pokemon must be holding an incense to get it.

If you've followed all of these steps, you should now be a breeding expert! If you have any question or need assistance, please comment below or PM me! In my next Tutorial, I will be covering IV, EV, and Ditto Breeding for Competitive Pixelmon Battling, so stay tuned!
