Higher RAM doesn't make your games run faster, it only allows you to run more programs at once.

That's what I know. Im not 100% sure but its based on experience

that is not true. Think about it this way: you say that RAM in applications doesn't matter. So if I put 1MB into minecraft, it would run as fast as it would if I'd put 64GB in it? Triple Em is right, above 3GB doesn't matter (in Minecraft!). Under 3GB or with other applications, it does matter a lot!

Btw I made this account so that I could explain this... I'm not going to use it ever again :P

Minecraft is written so terribly that after about 3 gigs it has no idea how to allocate memory.
