This is going to be a blog about how to create better buildings in Minecraft. I will show you through all the steps I go through before and during building architecture so you can hopefully create better buildings! Thank you for viewing and leaving your opinion!
Step 1: The theme
The theme is the underlying idea behind your building. Before you even try to place a block you need to come up with a theme for your building. Are you building a medieval village? A modern housing estate? Everything you build will evolve around this theme. Some themes to consider:
- Medieval
- Modern
- Futuristic
- Victorian
- Industrial
Step 2: The colour scheme
The second thing to do before you even start building is to create what's known as a colour scheme. A colour scheme is like a list of all the colours you're going to use during building. You should pick colours to go into your colour scheme which fit the style of your build. For example, a medieval build would include more grey colours, whereas a modern build would use brighter.
A good rule of thumb is to use only three or four colours to complete your build. Don't use too many bright colours in your colour scheme or else the build will start to look ridiculous.
Here is an example of a suitable colour scheme:
As you can see for each of the colours I have picked four blocks which have similar colours. This way you can include some variety of blocks in your project while still using the colour scheme.
Step 3: Resource gathering
The next step to creating a good building is to gather the resources. If you're playing in creative this obviously won't be too much of a problem, but in survival this may mean you have some limitations to what blocks you can use, depending on the world. You probably won't be able to use many circle stone bricks, so go for more common materials and use rarer blocks as highlights.
Step 4: Build some boxes.
Yep, build boxes. To outline the shape of your building you should build boxes out of your base building block of approximate size to see if the size of the building will be right. Continue this until you have all the main shapes of the building. If you need a circular shape in the building, it may be a good idea to use this:
