Hi all! Today I want to talk about roofs.
Which thing is most important in the buidling? Walls, windows or interior?
Of course, everything is important, but roof can totally change how your building would look like. Roof usually can be seen from dynmap, from the distance and actually this is the top of the building.
So lets see how to make our roof awesome.
Sad, but true: most of the players underrate the look of the roof so usually we could see this:
Please, don't do so! This roof looks flat and unattractively.
So, here we go.
Notice, that the material of the walls and roof should be different.
That type is one of the easiest unusual types. Begin with ine block from the edge of the wall, alternate stairs and blocks reaching almost to the top. Pull your roof out (the place is marked on the picture with the red arrow) - put the stairs straight on the top of the block and not next to it.
As we can see, there is a space between two parts of our roof, that can't be closed with the stairs. Do not place any block between, but put it one block above. Add stairs to the edge of the roof like a corner.
Let's make our roof more complicated and diverse! Add stairs from the different material on the top.
This type is rather hard to build without creative mod (there would be a lot of falls!) anyway it looks good. Also it enables us to create several floors under the roof because it is tall. I've marked stairs with two colors: red spreads along the entire roof, green would be only on the edge - there are oak planks between them.
Every roof looks better with some additional elements. When creating this roof I was inspired with the Hunter's hall from the Warcraft 3.
The red arrow shows the place where two roofs crossing. The usage of corner stairs isn't always look good, sometimes it looks dull. Place here any blocks of different material - it would look great. Yellow arrow shows the place where I placed two stairs to make our roof more sloping.
If you like elfish style you can raise the edges on top of the roof like I did
One of the most complicated and unusual types. Real rarity!
Build the square basement, then alternate block and half-block, and then place the last one (on the picture) to the center.
Round out our roof, still alternating blocks, but focus on the center.
Then we can choose one of the two ways to coplete the roof.
First is to complete making our roof look round
Or we can make a wall with a window.
Well, that's all. Next time I'll show you other types of the roofs and some additional details.
For better understandig I'm adding a world save, so you could take a better look.
Special thanks to Hobbit41.
