Before you read on, I wanted to let you guys know that I, TheFoot, did not make this. I got permission to upload this text to Planet Minecraft by the original author from another forum. That's all I wanted to say. Enjoy!
Yesterday, I made a brand new server. I'm not going to tell you the IP because that would be advertising, and you're not allowed to do so.
So instead, i'm going to give you guys a small tutorial on how to make one yourself:
First, get you server downloaded and run it. (Minecraft server or Bukkit server)
then, look up a tutorial of how to make a server.
When you are done, come back to this.
Alright, so, what you do now is click Start, and press Run.
In the Run box, type cmd. This will open up the Command Prompt.
From there, type ipconfig.
Find IP Address (or anything close to that, just not Default Gateway).
There should be a number that says 192.168.1.1(other 2 numbers are here)
If it doesn't say that, use the number that it gives you.
Next, open up your web browser and paste or type in that number that you have.
It should ask you for a Username and Password.
Usually, the Username AND Password is admin.
Sometimes, the Username is admin and the Password is nothing, or the Username is admin and the Password is password.
Anyway, the following is for Cisco/Linksys.
Go to Single Port Fowarding, and from there on, do what the video tutorial (mentioned above) tells you.
Afterwards, go to www.whatsmyip.org.
The number it gives you is the server IP that you will use.
Then, go to your server.properties file and find server ip.
LEAVE THIS BLANK! If you type anything there, your server will not work.
Run your server.
Start Minecraft, go to Multiplayer, and Add Server.
Give it a name, and type/paste the number that you got from www.whatsmyip.org.
Then, you can join! You can now tell some friends your IP and they will be able to join your very own server!
I hope this helped you guys. This has turned out to be very long. Leave a like and comment down below telling me what you think about this topic. Later!
