Hey everyone! Lately, I've been seeing Minecraft skins with more greyish browns.
As a black girl myself, it makes me uncomfortable to see that.
So, I've decided to make a blog about the correct way to do it!
Keep in mind that the number of colors you shade with is up to you, I'm just here to show you the basics.

--Let's begin!--

------------
One thing I've addressed so far is the skin tones, so let's look at examples of skins with grey-browns, and talk about what's wrong
with it.
Examples

(Now, I'd like to say that I am fully aware of how *very* dark tones can have blue highlights, and I'll get to that part too <3 )
---
"What's wrong with it?"
Well, the colors are on the grey spectrum, giving it a sort of dried out/dead feeling to it.
---
Let's fix it!
These are the basic do's and don't before we go ahead and move on

Examples

---
How to shade!

One good way to learn how to shade skin tones are references!
However, don't copy the colors straight from the image! do alter them a bit so that they'll look right.
-- some base examples --

---
Here are some don't on shading:

---
Choosing a rich color and then shading with greys/dryer colors doesn't look good together, (Excluding certain IRL lighting situations)
---
Correct way:

Choosing a vibrant color to shade a rich tone like this makes it look more lively and vibrant!

(This may vary with the shade of brown, so my best advice would be to observe with reference images)
---

Examples for practice:
(For light skin & dark skin (darker colors coming soon))

---
In conclusion, don't use grey/dried out colors to shade dark skin tones! Use orange/yellow for a vibrant tone

Alternatively, you could use navy blue to shade too (All skin tones, looks best on really dark tones.)

Thank you for listening! if you have an additional information please comment it below <3

They're actually pretty good! Though i'd suggest lightening up the "shine" colors a bit, it's hard to see
