Hey guys! Today I'm going to tell you how to download mods. Part of this blog may work for Windows or other computer users, but as far as I know, the whole guide only works for MacBook or Apple computer users. Although many people know how, I for one was left in the dark for two years. I figured it out last year. I am going to teach the Forge way, which has two parts. Here is part one.
You can download Forge from many places, but this is how I downloaded Forge for the first time. First, go to pixelmonmod.com (The link will be provided at the very bottom of this blog). Below the picture at the top of the page, there should be a bar. One of the options will say, "Downloads". Scroll down until you see a chart that says, "Version, Released, Forge Link, Changelog and Download." Below Forge Link, there will multiple downloads for versions of Forge. The numbers might seem like gibberish, but if you look to the left, you can see what version that the Forge download will go with (1.6.4, 1.7.2, 1.7.10, etc.) Here, you can decide which version you want your mods to be in. Most people like the latest version, but it's your choice. After you've decided on the version, look to the right again (under the Forge Link tab) and click on the link that goes with the version you want. This will lead you to adfly. It may want you to type something to, "make sure you're not a robot," whatever that means. It might also say that, "you don't have the right stuff to download what you want". It's lying. Type in the robot thing if you have to, but then WAIT FOR THE SKIP AD BUTTON TO APPEAR IN THE TOP RIGHT-HAND CORNER!!! Once it does, click it, and the forge installer will go to your downloads bar (top right-hand corner of the Safari tab, if you're using Safari). It might take a little while to download. Double click the forge installer once you have it. If it says that the installler is something from the internet, just click open. Then, once it's open, press, "Okay". Now open up Minecraft. Don't click Play! Instead, click, "New Profile". Name it whatever you want, but then click the dropdown bar next to the words, "Use Version". When the bar drops down, scroll all the way down to the bottom option. There, you should see: release <the version you downloaded forge for> Forge <random numbers>. Click that, and then click, "Save Profile". Once you have made the new profile, click on the dropdown above the new profile button, and select the profile you have just created. If you press Play and see, "Mods" in the main menu, you've done it right! Now you can move on to part two, actually getting mods.
This is the easier part. First download the mod you'd like. Note: Make sure that the version of the mod matches the version of the Forge you downloaded. Next click on your Finder. At the very top of the computer, where there is the apple that you click on to shut down or log out, you'll see, "Go". Click on go. Once you see the dropdown bar, press the Alt or Option key on your keyboard (either side works). You'll see that a new option in the dropdown bar has appeared: Library. Click on Library. Now click on the folder Application Support (folders are in alphabetical order). Next, click on the minecraft folder. Then, click on the Mods folder. Drag your mod into the mods folder. Now, restart Minecraft if you were already in it, and press Play. Make sure you are in the right profile. If you click the Mods button on the main menu, and you see the mod listed, you have done it right, and can now play using that mod! If the mod is not listed, the mod doesn't work for you. This happens to many people, including me. Some mods just don't work for me. But you can probably find another mod that works quickly.
Thanks for reading! If you learned how to download mods from this, please diamond! :D
