Today I'll show you how to use /playsound command in a command block

1.Place 1 Command Block and put button against it
thtrBpng

2.Insert /playsound [x] [y] [z] [volume] [pitch] [minimumvolume] (<> = Required [] = Optional) in to command block

sound - location of sound that want
player - who you want to hear (use @p for nearest player, @r for random player and @a for all players)
x y z - where this sound comes from (player will hear sound from specify coordinates)
pitch - a pitch of sound
minimumvolume - MinVol of sound

3.When you hit button you'll hear fuse sound that can prank other player :P

How to get sound location?

1.Go into .minecraft and go into assets folder
WrZubjkpng
2. Go in to sound folder and search your sound (i'll use fuse sound as same in this tutorial)

3.Use this pattern to be a location <storage-folder>.<sound-name> and it'll be random.fuse (fuse sound storage in random folder)

4.Now! you get sound location to use in /playsound!

in 1.12.2 there's a value called "source", can someone please tell me what it means and how to use it?

it just means what sound it comes from. For instance,if youput it as hostile,it will be counted as a hostile sound. This means if you turn down the volume of hostile in the menu, the playsound will also be quieter.

Is it possible to play a sound via the command that people around the player can hear? Like If I wanted to add a cow sound when players typed /Moo that other players near that player could hear? Currently I am only able to do sounds that I can hear, I want players around me to hear the sound as well. Thanks!

(Version 1.8) Here is the million dollar question...if you play a music file, how do you make the music stop? This ability is crucial for me to finish my adventure map.

Someone has probably answered this already, but you can do /stopsound I think, experiment with it, and it should work.

All you have to do is switch them to a different gamemode and then instantly switch them back. It works to end music every time for me. (Except when I put a disc in a juke box but with commands it may work different.)

Replace the sound "classic_hurt.ogg" with a musics. It's not used anymore. Same goes for the old explosion sound.

With the new snapshots, sound folder doesn't exist in vanilla minecraft. All there is now is indexes and objects folders.
