Hello everyone. Today i'll be explaining how to have good chances to be staff on a server.

Now recently I haven't been playing much minecraft, I have been very busy moving. However when I am playing minecraft, I am playing on servers. I am SICK AND TIRED of having people constantly spamming chat
"Oh can I be staff?! I've been playing for a whole 10 MINUTES OMG PLEEEEASE LET ME" . Seriously. Enough is enough. Though I would have to say my favorite part about all this is when they get rejected, and they freak out, threatening to DDoS, threatening to bring the server down. And then when they get banned, they submit an appeal.

So here it is: The Handbook of how to increase your chances on being staff

Requirements

  • Do NOT ask for staff
If your goal is to be a staff member on the server, the worst thing you can do is ask for a rank. Not only will this earn you a one way ticket to "No-Spine" 'vill but most servers have it as a rule that if you ask for ranks, you will get punished. So chances are, if you ask for staff, you'll get the exact opposite

  • Use decent Grammar and decent Spelling
Now I don't expect everyone to have top notch grammar, nor do I expect everyone to have top notch spelling, but I DO expect people to at least make an attempt to do their best. I cannot describe how annoying it is when you go on a server, and you can't understand a WORD the admin's saying. Here's an example:

Player: Excuse me, I think your spawn portal is broken, could I please have some help here?
Admin: Er well u do da thing with teh ting errnd eye shink ish a probrem wit da surva lesh me shee
Player: (logs off)

Of course this example is exaggerated... a lot but you get the point.

  • Don't Brown-Nose(Butt-Kiss)

Hopefully you guys know what I mean. Don't suckup to the owner/staff to try and get a rank. %99.9 of the time it won't work, and if it DOES, it's gonna be a real crappy server if the staff just giveaway ranks because of flattery.

To make a good impression on the Owner/Staff, just act normal. Don't kiss their ass. Don't beg for a rank. Read the rules, make some friends and just overall, play the server. A good server owner will notice players who stand out; meaning they
  • Help out players
  • Treat everyone with respect
  • Listen to staff
  • Don't break any rules
Yes, it's going take time. Yes it's going to be tricky. Yes, it's going to be worth it.

Now when I say "Help out players", I don't mean "Back Seat Staff". This is referring to dealing with players, as IF you were staff. Help out players with simple things, like showing some new guy around, maybe giving him some starting gear, etc. "Back seat staff" is basically like being staff, without any permissions. This is annoying to both staff and players, and eventually lead to your demise.

So I'm sorry if you didn't like this blog, but it's the cold hard truth: Staff members are not made in a day.

Good luck future Mods And Admins
