I will put a brief description of how to do it here but i reccomend you watch the video
Windows:
1.Go on Planet Minecraft, Pick a texturepack that you like and click on the download link...
When its done downloading. Copy the file and then open minecraft and go into texturepacks, then "Open texturepack Folder" and paste the file into there, but make sure it is a zip file! Now you should have a texturepack! If your texturepack requires mcpatcher then dont worry, its quite easy to use!
McPatcher:
I would tell you how but its hard to find so i'll just give you a link:
