So I heard you like mods? Well, here is how to install some of them. (Note: Some mods are installed differently. This is just the classic way of installing them. It's also for windows) YOU WILL NEED 7-ZIP OR WINRAR. Also, this is how to install mods for the new Minecraft launcher, not the 1.5 one.
And if you wanna support me, here's my YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4Gx3MsOKcNMdnJbcTlwjuw
Dang this blog got really popular! TIME TO MILK IT! :P Just kidding. But if you like this, please check out my other blogs for more as well as my YouTube! Enjoy.
1) First, if you have windows 8, go search up %appdata% then click enter
If you have 7, Go to the start menu and type %appdata% and click enter
If you have XP, go to run then %appdata%
2) After this, you should see something like .minecraft (NOTE: you have to have the installed version of Minecraft. Not the online one.)
3) Enter the .minecraft folder and find a folder called versions (Remember, this is for the new 1.6 Launcher)
4)) Go into the versions folder and find the classic Minecraft release. It is the one that you did not edit at all, and is the version of Minecraft (Ex. 1.7.2) If you don't see one, create one by running a new version manually through the launcher (Create a new profile and select the version. Make sure it matches which version the mod is updated to!!!)
5) Copy the classic folder. You should see "- copy" after you copied it. (ex. 1.7.2 - Copy)
6) Rename the folder to whatever you want. Do the same with the contents inside. Everything has to be the same name!!! Open up the .json file with Notepad. (If you renamed it MC, it should say MC.json, if not, put .json in front of the renamed name.) On the first line, you should see "1.7.2" or whatever the version is. Rename that to EXACTLY what you named the other contents.
7) Almost there! Go to your mod and right click it. It should say open with winrar or 7-zip. Do this! If it says 7-zip, click that and do open archive. It should be similar with winrar
8) Do the same with the minecraft jar in the folder you renamed. Remember that the jar should be the same name as everything else! And its the other one, not the .json
9) Now that both are open, drag ALL the contents of the mod INTO the jar. NOTE: Some mods may not tell you to do this, again, it is the classic way of installing mods. Also, they might tell you to delete the META-INF folder. It is optional to do unless they tell you to! I do it anyways though...
10) REALLY CLOSE! Close everything and open the Minecraft launcher.
11) Create a new profile. Select the version you created. (You should see the name you renamed the folder)
12) Select your preferences and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It almost feels like they don't want us to use mods anymore, I hope microsoft doe's something right and add's a better mod support for minecraft.
1) Put the ShaderModCore from GLSL shaders in the mods folder, with FML installed.
2) Go back to your .minecraft and create a folder exactly called "shaderpacks"
3) Put the shaderpacks in that new folder (Valid files are .vsh and .fsh)
4) Go into Minecrat and options, then shaderpacks, then select a shaderpack.
5)Done
This might not have helped, but here are some other links with installation instructions. There are also many videos on YouTube that can help you with installation.
