Hi guys, Greytopher here with a fairly simple tutorial! With the idea from Jesuitical, I've decided to make a tutorial on how to make a banner for your PMC blog posts. Hope you enjoy!
Getting the Right Dimensions...
So, you want to make a banner, eh? I'll go through a step by step process on how to make one! First, you want your dimensions. What are dimensions, Greytopher? Dimensions are the height and width of your file, so this is the most important part of making the right sort of banner. Be sure to use pixels, it's easiest to use and more specific in smaller measurements. Now, the dimensions I usually use is 624x100 pixels. In other words, for the width: 624 pixels, and the height: 100 pixels. It should look like it's long, and not that high. This will be your template for your dimensions, and should fit onto a page like this, stretching all the way across.
Making the Banner...
For me, this is the most fun part of it, since you're designing what it's going to look like!
So, first off you want a background for your banner. If you don't want to have a back to your banner, and only text, leave this part blank. The background by default will be white, so use whatever you want as your background. Then, choose your text. If you don't like the text provided by the program you use, go to dafont.com and find the perfect custom text for you.
If you want to get fancy with your text, there are a couple of ways to improve it. I use Photoshop CS5.5, and with this comes a tool that's found on the right-hand side. On this side should have a picture with an apple, and each picture shows a different filter. Scroll down till you see lines and squares, and those will help customize your text. I will show in the video a better explanation of this, so be sure to watch it.
Uploading the Banner...
For some reason, I see a LOT of people asking this. This is a very easy step in implementing your banner onto the website of choice.
So, before you quit out of your program that you used, be sure to save your work. Save this in two file formats: a PSD file (or a file that is used for your program that you can use to edit it again), and a JPEG file. Go to Photobucket.com or Imgur.com and upload your banner(s).
Then, if you're wanting to use a banner in a post, copy the URL from your uploaded image and paste it into the picture button on PMC. Or, if you're lazy, sometimes you can drag and drop it in.
I hope that helps! If you have an questions, leave a comment.
Thanks for reading/watching! If you liked this, leave a diamond, favorite, and above all subscribe for more content!
