HellEveryone!

For my first blog I want to talk about something that most people want to know, on how to run a successful Minecraft server!

So, you want to make a Minecraft server and become successful! This will be the right blog for you! First off, think to yourself, WHY do you want to make a successful server? Is it to make lots of money? Is it to make new friends? Do you want to be Famous? If you want to make money you should probably rethink that, most money you get should go back into the server. If you want to be famous then make sure your patient! Try to hav eyour server to hold at least 100 players.

OK! So now that you have though those questions through you must find a way to get a server! There are multiple ways! The main way I do is through a hosting site! McProHosting is a GREAT hosting site because they run many deals and has fairly cheap servers. IF you want to run it through your computer make sure to run it on a desktop. Make sure though that you have a good internet and a good desktop so you can play or run it awesomely on both.

NOW: Decide what kind of server you want. Do you want a Bukkit server? Do you wish to make a minigame server? Factions? Vanilla? Whichever you chose! Some may make it harder than other to become a popular server *cough* Vanilla*cough* but it may still happen. Other like Factions is a very used gamemode so it is less likely that yours will be noticed so make a twist! Once you decide which gamemode you want install the correct plugins for that type.
After you get the basic plugins for you gametype you may want to add some more admin tool type plugins. If you run a server where mining is part of the gamemode or still part of the game, make sure to add an anti-xray plugin. Always add an anti-cheat plugin, like NoCheatPlus in so players can’t hack. If you run a pvp based server make sure to add a pvplogger so people can’t pvplogger. Also, I would add a clearlag plugin that removes entities. It may help players who have worse computers run the server better. Want donations in the server? Make sure to get buycraft and add a rank system. There are many rank systems you can get, most commonly the essentials one and the PEX. I personally would use GroupManager. Want an economy? Add a sign shop or something, get essentials and make a way you can gain and lose money in the server. One plugin that I would NOT recommend for a shop system is quickshop. Even though it is easy to make a shop, there is a duplication bug in it.
So now that you got more server wise plugins get some plugins players can use! One of my favorites is SilkSpawners, which could be added as a donator rank. Add some plugins that the players can use or donate for to make the game fun for them, REMEMBER! If the server is fun the players stay!

Make sure to add ranks and give appropriate stuff to each rank (I.E Giving god mode to the most basic rank) Make sure the game is a balanced as possible, but still giving perks to players who donate.
ALRIGHT, now that you’re done on the plug in part it’s time to work on spawn. NEVER download a map and just say that it’s done. Make the spawn HANDMADE, or with WorldEdit. If you’re not so good at building hire a build team! The first thing Players see when they join is the spawn, so make sure it looks as great as possible! Add things like a shop, donator area, staff area, etc... So players can see what is happening, know the rules, and see who is who. This by far may take the most time, so be patient!

Now were almost home-free. We need to talk about staff. Staff is a very important part in any Minecraft server. Make sure that the people are trust-worthy, so they haven’t been banned for like hacking, griefing ETC..., (If banned for stuff like saying hello or stuff like that Give them a little break) and make sure that you DO NOT OP THEM!!!! The only people you want Op-ed is yourself, no one else. In the beginning hire like 2 admins, and about 5 mods. Once your server gets bigger add staff ranks like helper and bump up the slots of staff. You don’t want the majority of your players being staff. Make sure there is power balance in the ranks, Helpers should not get /kick or /ban, and in my opinion mods shouldn’t get /ban. Make sure they have power to mute players though!

Finally! How you server is going to become successful! There are a couple of tricks to this. Having the server fun and a nice spawn is one of the most important things to hooking players in. The next thing you have to do is advertise on website such as PMC, make sure your server if fully ready though! Also, give YouTubers perks, so they feel motivated to record on the server and get some free advertisement! With advertising like this, you may get LOTS of people joining and saying "Give me OP!" Or "I Want Staff!'  Don’t ban these players, tell them kindly that there is no OP's, and you have to apply for staff. If they keep on persisting Mute them for a while, and if they still keep it on ban them.

I hope this really helps you and your quest to get a popular server!

Lol, Fishmastr is right this blog is kinda useless because there are over like 100 just saying the same thing in differnt text. It's this simple, just saying' To make a sucessful Minecraft server, you have to be patient.'

That's exactly it oh and you also need to be unique! :)

I'm sure there's a bunch of things wrong with this that I would normally flame you about, but I can't find them because you cannot structure a proper sentence/paragraph.

Congrats, you've unwittingly saved yourself from me.
