Introduction

The prospect of building big houses or castle may seem daunting. I am sure you have all experienced the hopeless feeling of starting to build a project and then realise that it wasno t such a great idea as you first thought. You then sought inspiration from the planet minecraft projects section or the popular reel. This turns out to be a fruitless attempt to save your project after seeing an epic castle that looks like it took years to build. That is were you give up. This is what I call a rare disease called Builders Foot. So I went in search of a cure for this terrible disease.

The cure

Alas the great HDcast of Diamondhackers has found the route of the problem, poor planing. Poor planning is not simply a bad plan. It is when we dream up a design out of thin air where there is some massive build that you think you can see so clearly. But of course what you imagine in your mind may seem clear but if you ask yourself something specific about this mythical design you will discover you dono t have the answer. This is were once you dream up an idea you need to draw it up. First step is to draw a ruff outline of your build and then add in your rooms/houses ect. If something does not fit on your quick sketch then draw the sketch again so it does keeping the proportions of your design in mind. Once that stage of the planning is complete draw sketches of your design front facing side facing ect, Nearly like a painting but not as precise.

Thinking in Proportions and size

When you get to the building stage draw a ruff outline using your ruff sketches as a guide to the distances between key things like towers on your castle so the walls are easy to make. Once you have done that as always you have to start building up. Once your design is up and off the ground it is safe to add the small things that make the difference. I talk about detail a great deal in my blogs like in my building the survival games blog but not in great enough detail.

Detail

Some small things can even make the worst of builds look dramatic and something special. I think for this a castle is the best example. Lets say you have a library in your castle. From the library there are massive windows that reach nearly to the top of the castle near the crenelations you could put pillars either side of the windows just to add that extra touch. On the main gates you could add fences at the top just to look like the gate bars. In a garden you can add trees and flowers. At the bottom of windows windows you can use upside down stairs as a ledge. These details are second to none even with the best texture pack in the world will your build be as good as without the finer details.
