Creating your own heads: 
You can use some letters as hair, though all of the numbers make great hairstyles. Anything with 2 dots works as eyes though you can also use the equal sign or any other letter such as X to make glasses. Mouths are quite simple, most letters make great mouths and every diifferent letter gives the mouth a different expression. Use parenthesis to shape the head.

Bodies:
(turn your head and imagine a head on them to picture them better.)

Creating your own bodies:
This symbol -> - is usually the neck. The outfit can be made with ANY keys. They ALL work for the outfit. The legs can be an equal sign or less than sign (= or <) and in some cases this -> : . You can also add on arms between the neck and body with these symbols -> : and ; .

Putting together your text people and making them cooler:
To put them together simply make a head and then a body next to it. You are welcome to copy and paste the head and body examples from above if you want to start making people. To make them cooler you can change the fonts of the people. Experiment with different fonts and you can make your people a lot cooler. If you just have the basic font (which you probably will only have when texting) you can make great people just as well.
